Fernandez Doesn't Bite

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Igor Kurganov (as seen from previous event)

Pablo Fernandez was in middle position and raised to 6,000. Igor Kurganov was in the small blind and called, as did Ben Yu in the big blind.

The flop was {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} and action checked to Fernandez. He fired out a bet of 8,000 and Kurganov called, Yu folded.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and Kurganov check-called a bet of 21,000 from Fernandez.

The river was the {q-Diamonds} and Kurganov checked. After taking a minute or so to decide, Fernandez elected to check as well.

Kurganov tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for top two pair and Fernandez dejectedly showed the table {a-Spades}{k-Spades} before the dealer mucked his hand.

The team of Kurganov and Boeree have been steadily climbing the leaderboard and are nearing in on the chip leaders.
