Chidwick Wins Sizeable Pot in Omaha 8

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Omaha 8 or Better:

There were {Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} on the felt as Stephen Chidwick and Andrey Zhigalov faced off. It was just before the showdown when we arrived, and chips in front of both players indicated there was a betting on the way through the river. Chidwick turned over a flopped top set improved to a full house with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{X-}{X-}, scooping a big pot off his Russian opponent.

Zhigalov is, however, still sitting on a comfortable stack.

Jason Mercier Eliminated by Shaun Deeb

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Razz:

Jason Mercier's seat was empty and Shaun Deeb said, "You're gonna wanna hear this."

According to him, he opened with a {7-} showing and Mercier moved all in for only a few thousand chips with a {4-}. Deeb called.

The boards ran out as followed:

Deeb: {7-}{5-} / {7-}{3-}{j-}{7-} / {x-}
Mercier: {9-}{8-} / {4-}{9-}{k-}{k-} / {x-}

Deeb squeezed his last card: a {3-}, giving him a pair of threes as a low. Mercier just needed to not pair and he would stay alive. However, he turned over the {8-} giving him a pair of eights for a low and was eliminated.

Belianin Doubles through Habl

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha:

Georgii Belianin was in the big blind, playing against button Daniel Habl on the {J-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop. Belianin tapped and, when Habl placed in 2,200, responded with a check-raise to what looked to be 9,900. Habl called.

The turn brought the {Q-Hearts} and Belianin pushed all in for his 21,400. Habl didn't seem to be happy but he wasn't ready to release his hand either. After giving it some thought, Habl eventually called.

Belianin: {K-Spades}{7-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Habl: {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}

Belianin was ahead with two pair but Habl had a plenty of outs to take down the pot, holding the nut-flush draw and a wrap.

The river was, however, the {A-Clubs} and Belianin's jacks and sevens remained the best hand, securing him a large double.

Levi Gets More than a Dab; Bubble Looming

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha:

Hijack Jennifer Tilly made it 2,000 to go. Christopher Kruk, one of the biggest stacks in the room, called, inviting short-stacked David Levi to the pot. Levi's action wasn't immediate, but he eventually came along from the big blind.

The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Levi was fast this time, trying to move all his remaining chips in the middle. He potted for 6,300 and Tilly pushed a tall tower of 500-chips, raising it to something like 28,000.

Tilly's move was a heartbreaker for Kruk, who seemed agonised with the situation. He looked to Tilly's bet, Tilly's stack, his eyes then aimed at the ceiling, and back to his stack. Kruk's charade resulted in a fold.

Levi put in his remaining 2,900 he had left and the cards went face up.

Levi: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Tilly: {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The turn {J-Spades} and river {6-Spades} were safe for Levi, who scored a much needed double as the bubble is looming with the tournament just four eliminations away from the money.

Randy Ohel Eliminated by Jerry Wong; Play is Now Hand for Hand

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw:

Action was after the final draw with Jerry Wong showing down {9-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{2-} to beat another player's {j-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for the side pot.

Randy Ohel was all in; it was unclear at what point he went all in, but Chance Kornuth was railing him.

"Help me out buddy," said Ohel, inviting Kornuth to turn over his first card which appeared to be the last one he drew. Unfortunately for Ohel it was an {a-}.

He showed {8-}{7-}{3-}{2-} but was eliminated.

There are now 72 players remaining with 71 places paid. Play is now hand-for-hand.

Richards Gets the Value With Two Pair

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo:

Zachary Richards was the bring-in with the {2-Clubs} and Sam Grafton completed with the {J-Spades}. Stephen Chidwick called and Richards called, too. Chidwick played only a cameo role in this hand as he folded on the fourth street, but Richards and Grafton went to battle, making it all the way to the seventh street.

Richards: {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades} / {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} / {3-Hearts}
Grafton: {X-}{X-} / {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} / {X-}

Richards bet the fourth street and then called Grafton's raise. Grafton check-called on the fifth and called one bet again on both the sixth and seventh streets.

Richards was drawing for a good low and, while he didn't qualify, he still scooped Grafton, although he was a little confused about his hand. "Full house," he announced, but then he realised he had less than that. However, his two pairs, fours and threes, were still strong enough to beat Grafton.
