Maslak Scores Double Through Elias

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 1,300 ante
Konstantin Maslak
Konstantin Maslak

Konstantin Maslak shoved for 31,300 from the cutoff and claimed the blinds and antes. Some three-bet pots without a call followed before the blinds went through Maslak. He then moved all in for 41,300, and Darren Elias asked for a count in the big blind before calling.

Both players stood pat, and Maslak showed {9-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, which was good enough for the double. Elias only had {10-}{9-}{8-}{7-}{5-}, and Maslak doubled but remains the shortest stack of the remaining 14 players.

Chen Trending Up

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 1,300 ante

Darren Elias opened to 15,000, and Per Hildebrand called before Xavier Kyablue took down the pot uncontested with a three-bet to 60,000.

Elias then raised to 15,000 from under the gun, and James Chen three-bet to 50,000 out of the big blind, which Elias called. Chen stood pat, and Elias drew one. Chen bet 32,000, and Elias folded.

Then, Paul Volpe raised to 13,600 on the button, and Chen reraised to 50,000 in the small blind. Volpe called, and Chen stood pat. Volpe took one. Both players checked, and Chen showed {10-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{4-} to win another pot.

This Might Be Mike Leah's Level

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 1,300 ante
Shaun Deeb Faces a Mike Leah Bet
Shaun Deeb Faces a Mike Leah Bet

Mike Leah just opened three hands in a row and managed to add 200,000 to his stack thanks to a double-up and a profitable pot against Shaun Deeb on the very next hand.

  • Leah opened the first hand to 12,500, and Mike Gorodinsky called from the big blind. Gorodinsky drew two and Leah drew one. Gorodinsky led, betting 50,000, and Leah went all in for 79,100 more. Gorodinsky called, and Leah showed {9-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Gorodinsky said he had a nine-eight.
  • Then, Leah opened again the next hand. This time, Shaun Deeb three-bet to 41,000, and Leah called. Leah drew one, and Deeb stood pat. Leah led for 105,000, and Deeb took about 45 seconds before folding.
  • The next hand looked very similar when Leah opened to 12,500 and Deeb three-bet to 41,000. Only this time, Dario Sammartino shoved all in for 98,000. Leah took a while to make his decision. The clock was called, and the floor counted down to one, after which he and Deeb folded, and Sammartino won the hand. Leah showed his {10-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} as he tossed it into the muck.

Leah showed {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, Deeb flashed {8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} to the table before he mucked, and Leah collected the pot.

Even More for Leah

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 1,300 ante

John Monnette raised to 12,500, and Mike Leah called on the button, as did Dario Sammartino in the big blind. All three players drew one card apiece, and Sammartino bet 28,000. Monnette folded, but Leah eventually called and tabled his {Q-}{8-}{6-}{4-}{2-}. Sammartino sighed and sent his cards into the muck.

The roller coaster ride of Leah has brought him back up to more than a half-million chips, while Monnette remains the chip leader.

Volpe Takes from Hildebrand

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 1,300 ante

Paul Volpe lost a small pot to Xavier Kyablue, and Per Hildebrand raised to 15,000 the very next hand. Volpe three-bet to 47,000, and Hildebrand four-bet to 130,000 total. Volpe checked his stack carefully, verified the amount, and called. Volpe then stood pat, while Hildebrand drew one card.

There was no betting action, and Volpe announced a nine, rolling over {9-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. Hildebrand mucked, and the pot was awarded to Volpe.
