JC Tran Leads Final 15 Into Day 3 of the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship

Day 3 of Event #38: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday. JC Tran (1,150,000) leads the final 15 players into the final day and is looking to win his third WSOP bracelet. He will join defending champion Ian Johns (59,000) and the champion once removed, Ben Yu (446,000), both of whom are also seeking their third WSOP bracelets.

Forty-one players returned to start Day 2 and things got contentious pretty quickly. On one of the first hands of the day, Justin Bonomo raised against eventual 18th-place finisher Martin Kabrhel. Kabrhel took about 30 seconds before Bonomo called the clock. This was a carry over from the previous night where Kabrhel was apparently tanking so much that the players today gave him a very short leash.

Throughout the day various players would call the clock and Kabrhel would complain. The cycle repeated itself until Kabrhel was finally eliminated in 18th place. Another theme of the day was Phil Hellmuth losing a hand and complaining out loud to a chorus of laughs from the field. Hellmuth went busto during the final two hours of play and finished in 16th place.

Aside from the two former event champions, the remaining field is stacked. Daniel Negreanu (425,000) is making yet another deep run and looking to close out bracelet number seven. He will have a hard task playing against players who some consider the best in the business. Terrence Chan bagged 831,000 and will be looking to add his first WSOP bracelet to an impressive list of cashes totalling over $700,000 in WSOP winnings.

Former WSOP Main Event Champ Joe McKeehen (84,000) is also in the remaining field and will be looking to add a second WSOP bracelet to his collection.

Phil Hellmuth Eliminated in 16th Place ($15,385)

Level 19 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth raised from the hijack and Shaun Deeb defended the big blind.

On the {J-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, Deeb checked, Hellmuth bet, Deeb raised and Hellmuth went into the tank.

As Hellmuth was thinking, Ben Yu from the table over was reading the hand that set Hellmuth off out loud as the remaining players and rail laughed.

Hellmuth eventually raised all in and Deeb called the 5,000 more.

Hellmuth: {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Deeb: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Deeb was ahead with his pair of sixes and Hellmuth would need to improve to stay alive.

The {4-Diamonds} on the turn was of no help to Hellmuth nor was the {9-Diamonds} on the river and he was eliminated.

Deeb went over to Hellmuth and wished him a good game and Hellmuth exited the tournament area quietly.

Daniel Negreanu, Ben Yu, and Terrence Chan were in for four bets each heading to the flop.

Negreanu was first to act and checked the {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop. Chan checked behind and Yu bet. Both Negreanu and Chan called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and the action checked to Yu again. He bet and Negreanu and Chan called.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Negreanu led. Chan took a few seconds then called and Yu took a few second and called as well.

"Two pair," Negreanu called out.

Chan turned over {a-Spades}{8-Spades} for a straight and Yu and Negreanu mucked.

Martin Kabrhel Eliminated in 18th Place ($15,385)

Level 18 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

Martin Kabrhel has been eliminated in 18th place. After a tumultuous day, Kabrhel was eliminated after a series of hands and eventually called for his tournament life with ace-high against Jared Talarico.

Before that, Kabrhel was left short thanks to a hand against Ray Henson.

Henson raised from the small blind and Kabrhel three-bet from the big blind. Henson called.

Kabrhel asked Henson what he planned to do if Kabrhel went all in. Henson said he would evaluate when that happened and then told Kabrhel he had seen his hand.

As the flop came out {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} Kabrhel said it was unfair that Henson knew his hand.

"Quit showing it to me then," Henson said, "I already warned you."

Henson checked.

"Then you know you are behind?" Kabrhel said as he bet.

"Yeah, but I can catch up."

Henson called.

The turn was the {j-Clubs} and Henson checked again. After what seemed like 30 seconds, Henson called for the clock. The floor staff was already nearby since the general consensus of the remaining players was that Kabrhel was taking too long on a majority of his actions. The floor gave him ten seconds to act so he checked.

The river was the {5-Clubs} and both players checked. Henson won the hand with flopped pair of aces, holding {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. Kabrhel mucked.

A few hands later Kabrhel raised and Jared Talarico three-bet.

"I'll show you," said Talarico.

Kabrhel called and joked that he wanted Talarico to show him now. The flop came {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Kabrhel checked. Talarico bet and Kabrhel called. The turn was the {j-Clubs} and Kabrhel checked again.

Talarico bet and said, "nice hand."

Kabrhel called off his remaining stack and showed {a-}{7-}. He was behind Talarico's pocket aces, {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}. The river was the {3-Clubs} and that spelled the end of the road for Kabrhel.

The table was more than happy to see Kabrhel bust. Former WSOP Champ Joe McKeehen told Talarico that he was cheering for Talarico to win if he were to bust.

Ismael Bojang
Ismael Bojang

JC Tran raised from under the gun, and Ismael Bojang reraised all in for 4,000 more from the big blind, which Tran called.

Bojang: {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Tran: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Bojang was behind, and although he paired up on the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop, Tran flopped top pair and remained in the lead.

The turn was the {7-Clubs}, and Bojang could only survive with a queen or two on the river. The river was the {K-Spades}, and Bojang was eliminated on the bubble.

The remaining 18 players are guaranteed at least $15,385 and will redraw for the final two tables, which will be posted shortly.
