Hellmuth Chops to Stay Alive on the Bubble

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Stud Hi-Lo

Hellmuth: {x-}{x-} / {5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} / {x-}
Taylor: {x-}{x-} / {J-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} / {x-}
Arieh: {x-}{x-} / {5-Hearts}{A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} / {x-}

We caught up to the action on sixth street where Phil Hellmuth moved all in over a bet. He was called by both Brendan Taylor and Josh Arieh, leaving the two with heads-up action for a side pot.

On sixth, Taylor bet.

"Are you kidding me!" Hellmuth said, thinking he had been outdrawn.

Arieh called. On seventh, both Arieh and Taylor checked. Hellmuth showed {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a seven low with a pair of fives. Taylor showed {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for a flush. Arieh, realizing he had lost both sides of the pot, just mucked, and Hellmuth and Taylor chopped the big pot, keeping Hellmuth alive for another hand.
