Engel Picks Off Herm

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Ari Engel defended his big blind from a min-raise by Mark Herm, who was on the button. The flop came {2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Engel checked. Herm checked it back, seeing a {k-Spades}. Engel checked again, this time calling 28,000. On the {2-Spades} river, Engel checked a final time.

"How much is in the pot?" Herm asked.

Informed it was 128,000, he slid in 113,000 in short order. Engel took a long time to think, about three minutes. He apologized to the other players and continued to think for about another 30 seconds, and then dropped calling chips in.

"Ace-ten high," Herm announced.

"No good, obviously," Engel said, waiting for Herm to expose his hand.

Eventually, Herm tabled {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-}{4-}, and Engel showed {q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for queens up.

"Wow, wizards," someone said.

Ortynskiy: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
