Day 2 of Event #53: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. local time with 73 players returning from the 256 players who started Day 1.

Juha Helppi leads the field with 146,000 chips. Not far behind are Justin Thurlow (100,000), David Bach (99,500) and Ayaz Mahmood (85,500). Meanwhile two-time bracelet winner Jesse Martin (78,000) is currently seventh in chips and looking for his second bracelet of the summer.

The payouts begin at 39th place which puts them 34 players from the money, so they still need to lose about half the field to see the first payout of $4,482.

The action gets underway at the start of Level 11 with blinds at 800/1,500 and limits at 1,500/3,000. There will be 10 levels of play today with a 15-minute break at the end of every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break at the end of the sixth level (~8:30 p.m.).

Stay up-to-date on all of the action here at the 48th Annual World Series of Poker by following the coverage on PokerNews.

Frank Kassela
Frank Kassela

Frank Kassela lost seemingly every hand he played when coming back from dinner break. He was disappointed that he folded a big hand after building a huge pot four ways heading to the flop.

On his final hand, Ayman Qutami raised, and Kassela three-bet. Mickey Craft four-bet from the small blind, and Kassela was the lone caller.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}, and Craft bet. Kassela raised all in, and Craft called with {j-}{j-}. Kassela showed {k-}{q-} and asked the dealer to give Craft a set, which would give Kassela a straight.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and the river was the {q-Hearts}, and Craft won the hand with a straight. Kassela was eliminated in 16th place and will take home ($7,821).
