George Chips Up Further; Despres Does Too

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Pierre Merlin raised to 1,200 and picked up three calls, including the button, Gregory Geller in the small blind, and Chris George in the big blind.

The flop fell {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}, and George bet 2,000. Only Merlin called. After the {6-Hearts} turn, George made it 4,500 to go, and Merlin called once more. After the {3-Diamonds} fell on the river, George bet 10,500, and Merlin reluctantly folded.

Simon Despres has also chipped up after being moved over to the Brasilia Room. Despres was seated next to big stack Michael Liang, who tried to get the Canadian hockey player off a hand. Ultimately, the duo checked the {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Clubs} river with plenty of chips in the middle. Liang only had king-queen, while Despres claimed the pot with {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.
