Big Double for Merlin

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Among the bigger stacks in Miranda are [Removed:153], Ramin Hajiyev, and Michael Rossitto. Dylan Nguyen had all of them beat by far, but he just took a hit as Pierre Merlin doubled through him.

Merlin raised to 2,500 from the button and both players in the blinds, including Nguyen, called. On the {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop, the action checked to Merlin and he continued for 3,400. The small blind folded, but Nguyen had other plans and check-raised to 10,000, which Merlin called.

After the {10-Clubs} turn, Nguyen bet 12,800 and picked up a call by Merlin before checking the {K-Diamonds} on the river. Merlin bet 27,000 with 22,000 behind and called the check-raise shove of Nguyen with {J-Spades}{8-Hearts} for the jack-high straight. Nguyen only had {K-}{9-} for two pair and had to forteit almost one third of his big stack.

Mickey Craft Takes Down a Huge Pot in a Cooler Situation

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A player opened to Mickey Craft's right and Craft just flatted the raise. Action folded around to Phuoc Nguyen who reraised to 16,500. On the button, Francisco Fragoso reraised all in for roughly 18,000. Action folded back to Craft who reraised, making it 45,000. Nguyen then shoved all in for roughly 145,000 and Craft called.

Craft: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Nguyen: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Fragoso: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

The board rolled out {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} and that was good for Craft to take down the monster pot with his pair of aces, pushing him to over 300,000 chips.

Hwang Climbs, Fee Short

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

From under the gun, Ryan Fee opened to 2,200 and was met with a call from the player on his left as well as the blinds; one of which was Andy Hwang.

The dealer spread a {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop and Hwang led out for 4,500 and prompted a series of folds.

With that pot, Hwang moves to roughly 145,000 in chips.

Jeremy Ausmus Busts One

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

The player in the cutoff was all in for his last 14,400 and it was Jeremy Ausmus who gave him action on the button.

The cutoff was at risk and behind with {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, up against Ausmus' {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Ausmus paired his ten, putting his opponent in rough shape. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the cutoff was drawing dead to the {3-Spades} on the river.

Ausmus has now built up to 185,000 and is sitting on a healthy stack about halfway through Day 2.

A Setback for Shulman

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With a substantial pot of about 40,000 already brewing, the completed board read {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Barry Shulman checked from the cutoff to his lone opponent on the button. The button quickly checked behind and flipped over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for a pair of aces with a queen. Shulman mucked and his opponent took the pot.

Michael Rossitto Takes Out Jon Turner

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jon Turner
Jon Turner

Michael Rossitto opened with a raise to 2,200 from the hijack and he was called by the player on the button. From the big blind, Jon Turner moved all in for roughly 12,000. Rossitto called while the button folded, bringing the two players to a showdown.

Rossitto: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Turner: {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and that gave both players queens, but Rossitto held the better kicker so Turner was eliminated from the tournament.

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Picking up the action after the river of a {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs} board with roughly 38,000 in the pot, the player in the big blind bet 20,000. Niall Farrell raised all in with a covering stack from the button, sending his opponent into the tank for his remaining 60,000-ish for about three minutes before he folded.

Reichenstein Shoves the River

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Uri Reichenstein from a previous event
Uri Reichenstein from a previous event

There was a raise from early position and four other players called including Uri Reichenstein from the big blind. The flop came {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and the action was checked to the preflop raiser. He bet 3,000 and was called by the cutoff, only to have Reichenstein check-raise to 13,500. The player in early position folded and the cutoff made the call.

The turn was the {j-Clubs} and Reichenstein bet 24,500, which his opponent called after a couple moments. When the {10-Spades} landed on the river, Reichenstein moved all in for 180,000. His opponent had just 125,000 behind, and so calling would put his tournament life on the line.

He thought, he thought, and he thought some more. Nearly 10 minutes had passed and Reichentein's opponent could only muster a look of agony on his face. Finally, another player in the hand called the clock and the floor came over to give him 30 seconds to act. The countdown reached zero and his hand was declared dead.

"Show the bluff, show the bluff," you could hear coming from all around the table.

"I can't," answered Reichenstein as he scooped a massive pot.
