Bruno Politano Eliminated

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Bruno Politano
Bruno Politano

The cards of Bruno Politano were already rushed away, and the stack of Peter Zolnai was counted with the board showing {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Zolnai's {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for eights and sevens were still on the table, and his double for 152,500 left Politano with less than one big blind.

According to players at the table, it was a four-bet pot, with Politano squeezing to 57,000 in the cutoff and Zolnai calling on the button before the Brazilian bet the ten-high flop for 80,000. Zolnai moved all in, and Politano called with ace-king.

Politano doubled the next hand with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} versus {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} before doing so again with {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} versus {A-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. But ultimately, the third time was no charm for the 888poker Ambassador, and his chip-and-a-chair story ended before the dinner break.

Talley Folds Flop

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Following an under-the-gun raise to 7,000, Caufman Talley three-bet the hijack to 20,000. Talley's opponent called and checked the {3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{A-Diamonds} flop, and Talley continued for 20,000. After a slight pause, Talley's opponent check-raised to 65,000, and Talley released while dropping to 270,000 in chips.

Andrew Kelsall Only Looks at One

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Doug Polk opened to 6,500 from middle position, and Andrew Kelsall re-raised all in for 76,000 total. Polk took a while to decide and talked out his thoughts:

"If I had one higher, I call. If I had one lower, I fold."

After about a minute, Polk made his decision. "I don't normally do this, and if I'm wrong please stick the knife in, but I'm gonna lay this down," he said, turning over pocket nines with {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

"I only looked at one," Kelsall said, showing the {a-Diamonds}. "We can look at this one together."

"I don't believe you," Polk replied.

Kelsall turned over the {6-Diamonds}. "Now do you believe I only looked at one?"

"Noooooooooooo," Polk seemed half-frustrated and half-jokingly wailed after laying down the better hand.

Samuel Phillips Dodges Everything

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The action was on Samuel Phillips in the hijack, who three-bet to 21,000. The player in the cutoff four-bet to 52,000, and the original raiser folded. Phillips shoved all in for his remaining 159,000, and his opponent called.

Phillips: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The flop spelled disaster for Phillips when it came {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}, giving his opponent a straight-flush draw. Phillips was holding the {a-Hearts}, preventing him from making a Royal Flush. The turn brought the {j-Spades}, and the river was the {10-Diamonds}. Phillips was able to dodge all of his opponent's outs and held on for a double-up before the dinner break.

Rhee Forces a Big Laydown from Milam

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Yo-Seb Rhee was all in on the river, effectively putting Kenny Milam at risk for 105,000. That was an overbet to the pot of 85,000 or so. The board had come {8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Milam shrugged several times, muttering about how Rhee must have flopped another set. After a couple of minutes of thought, Milam folded {a-}{k-} face-up.

Rhee dragged the pot without showing.

Michael Amato Fills Up and Gets Paid

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Michael Amato was in the small blind and appeared to have led out for 45,000. His opponent was in late position and was in the tank on a board reading {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{5-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}. After about a minute, the late-position player called, and Amato revealed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a boat. His opponent mucked, and he raked in the pot.

Amato now sits with a giant stack of 560,000 about halfway through the day.
