Russo Scores Massive Double Through Pantaleo

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Giuseppe Pantaleo raised to 80,000 from middle position, and Stephen Russo three-bet to 315,000 from the big blind. Pantaleo four-bet jammed, putting Russo to a decision for the remainder of his stack, which was about 720,000, and he went into the tank. After several minutes, he eventually called to put himself at risk.

Pantaleo: {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Russo: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Russo had the preflop advantage but was racing for his tournament life, and Pantaleo needed to improve in order to eliminate his opponent. The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, and Russo's pocket pair held for the double-up, putting his stack over the 2,000,000-chip mark.
