All-Time WSOP Bracelet Leader Joins the Stacked Field

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth needs no real introduction. The fourteen-time bracelet winner — who has over 100 cashes in WSOP events, over $13 million dollars in WSOP earnings, and is highly regarded as one of the best no-limit hold'em tournament players of his time — jumps into the action.

Hellmuth sat down right at the end of late registration, fresh off his 10th-place finish in the High Roller for One Drop tournament where he netted $312,006 for his efforts. He's anything but dull, known for his antics at times, but regardless, he is a legend and an ambassador of the game.

Hellmuth joins a table with some stiff opposition in the form of Nick Schulman, Christopher George, and Ilya Dymet, among others. Stay tuned to see how he progresses through the last two levels of the night.

Andreas Klatt raised to 5,000 from the button, and the big blind called.

The two players saw a flop of {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, and the big blind checked. Klatt bet 2,500, and his opponent called.

The turn brought the {10-Hearts}, and the big blind bet. Klatt called.

The {3-Clubs} fell on the river, and the big blind bet again. After about 30 seconds of thought, Klatt called and tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for a set of aces for high and no low. His opponent tabled {Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for two pair and sixty-five low, so they chopped the pot.

The turn brought the {6-Hearts}, Soulier bet 5,000, and Matusow called.

"Are you f***ing kidding me?" Matusow asked in disbelief as he peeked back at his hole cards. "Wow," he said as he mucked.

Bonomo Continues His Charge

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Justin Bonomo was in the hijack and raised to 5,000. Daniel Alaei was in the small blind and called.

The flop was {8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, and Alaei check-called a bet of 2,500 from Bonomo.

The turn was the {a-Diamonds}, and again, Alaei check-called, but for 5,000 this time.

The river was the {10-Spades}, and Alaei checked. Bonomo didn't hesitate firing a third bullet for 5,000. Alaei called, and Bonomo tabled {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, giving him a low and a small flush. Both were good, and he climbed back over starting stack.

David Benyamine Eliminated by Benny Glaser

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

With a large pile of chips already in the middle and the board reading {K-}{5-}{3-}{X-}{5-}, Benny Glaser bet 5,000, and David Benyamine called for the remainder of his stack. Glaser tabled {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for a full boat, and Benyamine flashed {A-}{J-} for ace-jack hi as he mucked.
