Awerbuch Scoops a Big One

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Action was three-way on the river with right around 30,000 in the pot. The board was {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{A-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and first to act, Chad Awerbuch put out a bet of 13,500. One of his opponents in middle position then moved all in over the top with a stack of nearly 80,000. The last player, on the button, dropped into the tank and thought for a couple of minutes before he finally decided to fold. Awerbuch called off his remaining chips, roughly 3,000, very quickly.

The player in middle position showed down {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} for two pair, but Awerbuch was holding {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flush. With that he took down the big pot to more than double up.

Howearth Survives With a Chop

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Action was three-way on a flop of {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Matt Howearth was first to act and he put out a bet of 1,400. He was called by one player in middle position as well as one player on the button.

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and Howearth moved all in for 5,250. The player in middle position called quickly while the player on the button folded.

Matt Howearth: {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

Howearth was ahead on the flop but had secured a chop unless one of the players tripped up on the river. The river was the {8-Hearts} though, so with that, both players chopped the pot and Howearth survived.

Lombardo Falls Back Down to Earth

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
John Lombardo
John Lombardo

John Lombardo called an opponent's all in shove before the flop for roughly 25,000 chips. Lombardo had his opponent covered and at risk.

"Please don't have aces," Lombardo pleaded. "Please don't have aces."

But it was only bad news for Lombardo when his opponent turned up {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. Lombardo was holding {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} and he found no help as the board ran out {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{7-Clubs}. With that, Lombardo dropped back to around 30,000 chips after having an extremely hot start to the day.

Couple of New Entries and a Re-Entry

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Lambardo Removes Pritchard From the Tournament

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

All the money was already in the middle of the table by the river and John Lombardo had Jason Pritchard covered. The board showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Lombado was holding {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Pritchard was holding {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and it was a set over set cooler for him. Lombardo took down another big pot and send Pritchard to the rail.

After taking down another pot, Lombardo now sits with right around 67,000 chips.

Dean Blatt Chipping Up Nicely

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Dean Blatt
Dean Blatt

Dean Blatt limped in under the gun and a player to his left raised to 1,300. There were four called including the cutoff, the button and both blinds before Blatt called as well creating six-way action.

The flop was {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and action checked to the player on the button who made it 3,400 to go. Only Blatt called so the players were heads up.

On the {9-Clubs} turn, Blatt checked again. His opponent bet 4,600 and Blatt called.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Blatt put out a bet of 20,000. His opponent quickly folded so Blatt took down the pot.

"Did you have it?" the player asked.

"Did you have aces?" Blatt asked. "I had you crushed. Were you betting the river?"

The play said that he was betting the river.

"You were? It was such a bad river," Blatt responded.

Regardless, Blatt took down the pot and chipped up to about 63,000.
