Is it Hellmuth?
Is it Hellmuth?
As Dominic Kay's bio eluded to, he has a 50-50 share with someone he has never met after the initial qualifier was unable to make the event. As a result, and assuming that he's not here in the cardroom, that individual is earning more money from his armchair than many folk will in two or three years of hard graft.

Part of me secretly hopes that he's having an evening nap or something, just so he can brag, "I won half a million at poker whilst I was in bed." Now that'd be a tale he could tell the grandkids.

Final Table Betting Update

Here are the latest odds available on Betfair.com for our Final Table:

Magnus Persson: 16-1
John Tabatabai: 13-5
Matthew McCullough: 4-1
Johannes Korsar: 5-1
Annette Obrestad: 4-1
Oyvind Riisen: 12-1
Dominic Kay: 16-1

Hand #58 - Johannes Korsar

Magnus Persson has the button in Seat 8. John Tabatabai raises to 55,000 and Johannes Korsar calls. The flop is {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Korsar checks, and Tabatabai checks behind. The turn is the {A-Hearts}. Both players check again. The river is the {7-Diamonds}. Check-check a third time. Korsar shows the {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, Tabatabai shows the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and Korsar's pocket nines take it down.

Hand #59 - Magnus Persson Eliminated by John Tabatabai in 7th (£114,030)

Magnus Persson - 7th place finisher
Magnus Persson - 7th place finisher
Johannes Korsar has the button in Seat 1.

Magnus Persson moves all in preflop for 124,000. Johannes Korsar calls it. Big blind John Tabatabai re-raises after a pause - making it 445,000 total. That gets rid of Korsar - on their backs!

Persson shows: {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Tabatabai shows: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

Flop: {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Turn: {4-Spades}
River: {3-Hearts}

Which means that Magnus Persson finishes in 7th place, winning £114,030.

Hand Analysis: Hands #51-60

"Yeah! I finally won a pot..."
"Yeah! I finally won a pot..."
Magnus Persson busted out on Hand #59. He started the day 3rd in chips and his stack slowly dwindled away during the course of the afternoon. He shoved with {K-Spades}{10-Hearts} and ran into pocket Cowboys.

John Tabatabai added to his chiplead as he picked up five pots and busted Persson. He has won 22% of the pots over the last 50 hands.

Dominic Kay picked up a pot. Yet, he's still the short stack. He needs to wake up to a hand soon, otherwise he's doomed.

Oyvind Riisem finally broke out of his slump and won a pot. He raised preflop and... got no action. He has now won only three pots over the last 50 hands. To quote Texas Dolly, "You gotta give action to get action."
