Lindgren still feeling the Golf Bet

I've just had a chat with Erick Lindgren who has confirmed to me he is still not 100% after his epic Golf prop bet.

"My knee is still pretty bad, I didn't think it was that stupid at the time"

The $350,000 would probably get him a new set of knees I'm sure.

Mantis Doubles Gary Jones

It took four raises to get Gary Jones (big blind) all in, called by big stack Karl Mahrenholz. Mahrenholz was in pretty poor shape with his {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} up against the green-haired player's {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}. The board came down all red, no surprises, and Karl paid off Gary Jones' 75k or so, bumping him up the chip ladder for what seems like the first time since day One - to around 150,000.

Cowboy Up

Over at the featured TV table, Hoyt Corkins finally made a stand with a short-stack. He shoved for his last 13,000 and was called by Magnus Persson.

Corkins: {A-Spades}{5-Spades}
Persson: {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

The flop was {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The turn was {3-Clubs} and the river was the {K-Hearts}. Hoyt Corkins avoided elimination and increased his stack to almost 30,000.

Food for Thought

The tournament directors here are in jovial spirits, retelling me of how they demanded sponsorship from Betfair to play the circuit. Apparently, Betfair welcomed the idea and offered to put them in all their freerolls - they have to pay for their own shirts though.

As we enter the last level prior to lunch, I'm hoping for a flurry of exits in order to decrease the length of the buffet queue. At one point, one of the players requested a new band pass as his had snapped off, but the initial response was negative with the TD saying, "Nope, sorry, you're going to have to starve." I think the TDs are thinking along the same lines with regards to the buffet which will certainly help the cause.
