Williams Starts as he Means to Go On

Hold'em:

A refreshed David Williams has started off aggressively (and successfully), raising the very first hand of the day and stealing an ever-so-slightly late Phil Ivey's unguarded big blind. Then he got involved in a pot with Markus Golser, who called another of his preflop raises.

Golser check-raised the {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} flop, and Williams called. The turn brought the {8-Spades} and a bet out (1,200) from Golser - also called. They both checked the {6-Diamonds} river, where Williams' {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} was found to have gotten there in the end, to the (unexpressed) frustration of Golser, who'd flopped a set with {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} . Ah, limit poker, good sometimes for cultivating sang-froid.
