Annette Starts Again

Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad is on to her second chance chips after getting it all in preflop with {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {6-Hearts} {6-Spades} against {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {J-Spades} {6-Clubs} and {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {7-Hearts}. The latter of these belonged to Padraig Parkinson, who made the winning straight to scoop the pot on the {K-?} {9-?} {7-?} {10-?} {J-?} board.

New Champion

We'll be crowning a new WSOPE PLO champion this year, as last year's winner Dario Alioto is out, having had nothing go right today. Also gone is Jens Voertmann who won a bracelet over the summer in a HORSE event.

Irish Conference

Irish players are surprisingly thin on the ground on the six tables on the second floor - but they sort of coalesced around Sylvester Geoghegan during the break. Quizzical eyebrows were raised as Marty Smyth admitted to "Not having any chips," but I think that meant he'd needed his second chance. Lots of chuckling, and they spread back to their respective tables (the others including Padraig Parkinson and young online Omaha terror Dave Callaghan).

Frazer Finds The Nuts

In a reraised pot, Jeff Madsen sets Ian Frazer all in on a {6-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} board. After some contemplation, Frazer calls with {J-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} and Madsen flips {K-Clubs} {K-Spades} {J-Spades} {5-Clubs}. The turn is the {7-Diamonds} and now Madsen needs a six or king to win the pot, but the river is the {8-Diamonds} completing Frazer's straight flush and putting him back over 20,000.

Matusow Misses

Matusow: Dangerous T-Shirt Design for Poker Player, Easy Misread
Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow is down to 12,000 (that includes his second chance 10,000) after giving an all-in player a spin on a {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs} flop.

Matusow: {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} vs. {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {K-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} .

The turn: {3-Diamonds} Marvellous for Matusow, but neither draw came - the river was a momentarily arresting {A-Spades} if one hadn't noticed that the 6-7 had made a straight already - dropping him down. He briefly had a recount of the pot but it was all correct and he had to nurse his dented stack. No dent to his enthusiastic chatting though - recent subjects of conversation include: Roland de Wolfe, HORSE, Whether to call with AK.
