No Surinder for Sunar

As players were dispersing for the break, Eric Liu and Surinder Sunar tangled in one final pot. I only caught the action on the river, but with the board reading {J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, Liu's check on the end led to a bet of 7,600 from Liu. After a minute or two of deliberation, Liu made the call but was chagrined to see Sunar turn over {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for the flopped set.

As a result, Liu headed into the break with a heavily depleted stack of 3,500.

Brunson Down But Not Out

An unfortunate Doyle Brunson seems to have suffered a fall during the break. He appears to be largely fine but is receiving some tableside medical attention for a gash to his forearm, while Chris Ferguson is taking care of his famous cowboy hat, wearing it stacked on top of his own.

"Allow myself to introduce . . . myself."

ESPN's entourage of cameramen has just made its way to Table 15 where John Phan, John Juanda and Gus Hansen are all situated. Poker player turned producer Mark Gregorich gave the spiel, asking each player to introduce themselves.

John Juanda started things off, "John Juanda, Las Vegas, Nevada."

Then the camera pointed at Gus Hansen, who said in stride, "Phil Ivey."

He'll be Mizzed

Florian Langmann raised to 825 from second position before Sorel Mizzi reraised to 2,625 from the cut off. Mizzi thought for a while before making the call.

The flop came {6-Spades} {7-Hearts} {3-Clubs} and Langmann bet 7,500 into the pot. Mizzi sat there for a long while, staring at the board and occasionally glancing at his opponent, before announcing all in. Langmann snap-called with {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} and he found Mizzi with his hand in the cookie jar as he tabled {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}.

The turn {3-Diamonds} and river {7-Diamonds} changed nothing and Mizzi was eliminated early into level three. Langmann up to 70,000 now.

JJProdigy Hits the Rail

The last of Josh "JJProdigy" Field's chips went in preflop against Bengt Sonnert. Field's {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} could not improve against Sonnert's {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} on the {9-Hearts} {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} board and Field's Main Event came to an end after only two levels (and five minutes) of play.

"I Played that Like a European"

When in Rome...
When in Rome...
Daniel Negreanu opened from UTG for 600, Michiel Brummelhuis called, John Dwyer called, and David Booth called from the big blind. The flop was {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. The action was checked to Negreanu who bet 1,200. Brummelhuis flat-called and Dwyer put in a raise to 3,100. Booth folded and the action was back on Kid Poker, who bopped along to his iPod and fiddled with his chips while mulling his decision.

"What do I have again?" wondered Negreanu aloud after a few moments. "Oh, THAT... I raise!" he said, putting out 7,100 in chips. Both opponents gave up their hands and Negreanu raked in the pot.

"I just got all European there-- top pair, top kicker, raise, RERAISE!" giggled Negreanu as cameras swarmed his table.

Nice Call Puts Juanda at 60k

On a board showing {10-?} {4-?} {7-?} {4-?} {K-?}, an opponent moved all in for 11,100, putting John Juanda to the test.

"Do you have a set? A busted flush draw?" asked Juanda, as he tried to piece together the puzzle.

In the end, Juanda opted to make the call and as it turned out it was a good one, as his opponent turned over {7-?} {8-?} for two pair, fours and sevens. Juanda then tabled {K-?} {Q-?} for a better two pair and raked in the pot.

"Christmas is not till three months from now!" a jealous John Phan said to his fellow John across the table.
