Showdown!

A look-up of a river bet brought the attention of the crowd here back to the table. Daniel Negreanu had called one of those little button raises preflop as is traditional, as well as a small flop bet. Both players checked the turn, so the full board at the exciting bit was {4-Hearts} {A-Spades} {6-Spades} {K-Spades} {8-Diamonds} . At this point, Negreanu bet out 325k, called pretty quickly by Shulman who mucked when Negreanu showed down {8-Clubs} {4-Clubs} for two pair.

All Four Negreanu

Quad quads, as it were, for both heads-uppers as one hand reached the river (though sadly not showdown). Barry Shulman had tried a bet of 150k on the {4-Spades} {4-Clubs} {8-Spades} flop, check-called by Negreanu, but neither player wanted to bet the {4-Hearts} turn, and Negreanu led out 350k on the river - {4-Diamonds} - to an immediate fold from his opponent.

No Walking, Not Much Limping Either, Still Super Fast

I don't think either one of these players has given the other a walk heads up yet. There has usually been a small or min raise from the player on the button, with the other guy almost never folding preflop. So we're seeing a rainbow of flop colours and textures, but most of the speedily-played hands aren't getting past this point. With almost no dwell-time being used up by either player, they're fairly rocketing through hands as fast as the dealer can deal them.

Early Heads Up Action

First hand - Shulman raises 180k, Negreanu calls. {J-Clubs} {2-Spades} {Q-Clubs} comes down - Negreanu check-calls Shulman's 250k bet.

The turn: {K-Spades} Both players check.

The river: {5-Spades} Check-check one more time, and it turns out that Negreanu's {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} for, as Jack Effel puts it, "A pair of deuces with a large kicker," is good enough to take the first pot.

More Announcing

...Presumably just in case nobody in the casino knows who these two gentlemen are yet.

Messrs. Shulman and Negreanu have been once more officially introduced to the crowd who cheered dutifully.

With that achieved, it's shuffle up and deal!
