Mercier Eliminated

Jason Mercier eliminated on Day 1
Jason Mercier eliminated on Day 1

From middle position, Marc Bariller raised to 450. Jason Mercier was in the cutoff seat and reraised all in for 1,675. In the big blind, Anatolii Ozhenilok made the call and then Bariller also called.

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Mercier put his hand over his eyes and peeked through the smallest possible crack in his fingers that he could. Ozhenilok fired 2,000 and Bariller called.

The turn was the {Q-Spades} and both remaining players checked. They also checked the {Q-Clubs} on the river.

At the showdown, Ozhenilok showed the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} and Bariller mucked. Mercier showed the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} quickly, but then mucked his hand and headed out the door.

Katchalov was in excellent shape until the flop!

Flop: {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}

The {Q-Diamonds} turn gave him some hope but the {K-Diamonds} killed them seconds late.

Vamplew Frustrated and Busted

EPT Londen winner David Vamplew is not enjoying his day here in Cannes, he just sighed and stared at the ceiling for a number of seconds after he lost a pot against Nick Binger. Moments later he busted out.

We picked up the action from the flop when there was {Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} on the table. Vamplew was in the under the gun position and bet 875, Binger called from the button. The turn was the {7-Clubs} and Vamplew reached for chips betting 1,600. Binger thought for a while and requested Vamplew to move his hands so he could get a count. The Brit only had 4,500 chips behind but Binger just called.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and both players checked. Vamplew showed {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} after which he got to see Binger's hand. The WSOP bracelet winner showed {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and raked in the pot. Both players flopped a flush draw but Binger hit a pair on the turn to take the pot away from Vamplew. A few hands later Vamplew shoved the button with pocket fives, a player in the blinds re-shoved with {A-}{6-} suited and that was it for Vamplew.

Kenney's Aggression Wins Him This One

First up on the {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop, Mario Adinolfi checked to John Racener. He was second to act on this flop and also checked. Last to act was Bryn Kenney and he bet 1,300. Adinolfi folded, but Racener made the call.

Fourth street was the {K-Spades} and Racener passed the action to Kenney again. Kenney didn't take too long to himself before betting 3,450. Racener made the call.

The river card was the {4-Hearts} and completed a possible flush draw. Racener checked and Kenney started counting out chips for a bet. He fired 9,200 and Racener went into the tank. After a minute or so, Racener mucked his hand and Kenney won the pot.
