Devilfish Bluffs Into Toth's Quads

Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott put Richard Toth all in on the river with the board reading {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Toth snapped him off with the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Ulliott showed that all he had was the {3-Spades}{2-Hearts} and claimed he knew that Toth held a queen, just not that he had two of them.

Jason Mercier (Event #1)
Jason Mercier (Event #1)

We ran into Jason Mercier as he was headed out the door. He relayed us the details of his bust out hand and this is what happened.

There were two limpers and then Mercier limped on the button with pocket nines. The small blind completed and the big blind raised to 8000. Only Mercier made the call to see the {7-}{2-}{2-} flop with two hearts. The big blind bet 1,600 and Mercier moved all in for 6,300. After about 15 seconds, the player made the call with two kings, having Mercier's nines beat.

"The turn was a four and the river an eight," finished Mercier. "It was kind of a nit roll, but whatever."

In case you're wondering what a "nit roll" is, Mercier can pretty much be credited with being the first well-known pro to use the term and give it birth. Back in 2009, Mercier was commenting on the final table of the European Poker Tour Barcelona Main Event. We dug into the archives and found this post, where we described how Mercier discussed the difference between a slow roll and a nit roll on the live commentary. It's only fitting he was eliminated from this event via a "nit roll."

Giannetti Boosts His Stack

Matt Giannetti just boosted his stack a bit after an opponent moved all in against him with pocket sixes -- {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Giannetti met him with a quick call holding the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and the board ran out {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} to keep him in front.

Teisseire Fades Flush Draw to Double

Antonin Teisseire (Event #1)
Antonin Teisseire (Event #1)

From middle position, Antonin Teisseire raised to 450. He was called by only one player, the player on the button. The flop came down {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Teisseire fired a continuation bet of 700. His opponent took a minute and then slid out a tall stack of lavender T500 chips for a bet of 7,000. Teisseire immediately called all in for 5,600.

Teisseire: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Opponent: {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The turn was the {7-Spades} and the river the {6-Hearts}. Neither were a club and Teisseire's top pair held up to give him the double.
