Ricardo Pereira and November Niner Eoghan O'Dea mixed it up in a big preflop pot that left O'Dea all in for what looked like about 25,000. Pereira was working with
, but he'd run his Big Slick right into the
of the Irishman.
Things went south in a hurry, though. The flop brought
and a crushing blow to O'Dea's chances, now needing to find the case ace to double up. The turn and river came
,
, though, and that's not going to get it done. It's the end of the road in Event #2 for O'Dea, but he's still got a few chances left to lock up a bracelet this year. Including that little party of nine he's returning to in Las Vegas next month.
The bubble has burst. We'll have details coming for you shortly!
We have 82 players left, and we've only got room for 81 of them at the payout desk. The tournament is now being dealt hand-for-hand while we search for our unlucky Event #2 bubble boy.
A moment ago, we picked up a bit of the action in a heads-up pot between Roberto Romanello and Nicolas Chouity.
When we joined the action, the board showed
, and there was about 10,000 in the pot. Romanello was first to bet from the cutoff, and he made it 7,900 to go. Chouity took a long, agonizing pause, but he eventually plunked the call into the pot to see the last card. It was the
, and Romanello announced an all in shove for the ~15,000 he had left. Chouity snap-mucked, and Romanello flashed the
as he collected the pot.
It might have been good. Chouity spent the next minute or so lamenting his "tons of draws" that never came through. With that pot, Romanello climbs back to about 39,000 or so, perhaps a bit more.
From under the gun, Matt Waxman raised to 1,600. Tarcisio Bruno made the call from the big blind and the two players took the flop of

. Both players checked and the turn brought the
. Bruno bet 1,500 and Waxman called.
The river was the
and Bruno bet 3,000. Waxman tanked for a couple minutes and looked pained. He even began chuckling to himself. Finally, he tossed in the call.
Bruno tabled the
for trip eights and Waxman mucked.

From the under-the-gun-plus-one position, Matt Waxman raised to 1,600. Action folded to Christopher Sly in the cutoff seat and he made the call.
The flop came down

and both players checked to see the
land on the turn. Waxman fired for 2,600 and Sly made the call.
The
landed on the river and Waxman bet 3,200. Sly quickly made the call. Waxman went to show his hand, exposing just the

Matt Waxman began the day with 9,700, but more than doubled up on this hand that he relayed to us after the fact.
A player in early position raised to 1,800. Three players called and then Waxman called in the small blind for 1,400 more with 4,800 behind. The big blind also called and action went six ways to the flop.
The flop came down

and action checked around. The turn brought the
and Waxman moved all in for his last 4,800. The first preflop caller was the only player to make the call. Everyone else folded.
Waxman held the

The river was the

Roberto Romanello opened the pot with a raise before Nicolas Chouity three-bet shoved for about 14,000 next door. Romanello made the call with his ace-queen, and Chouity was behind but drawing live with ten-jack.
There was a ten on the flop, and the board ran
to miss Romanello and notch Chouity his double up. He's close to 30,000 now, while Romanello takes a step back to 28,000.
