Chartier Takes Friberg Down

Sam Chartier
Sam Chartier

We just picked up the action between Sam Chartier and Erik Friberg on the flop. The flop was {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Spades} and with 4,000 chips in the middle Friberg had laid out a bet of 8,000. Our best guess is that Chartier had already put in a previous bet, but since there was 16,000 in front of him that was no longer retraceable.

Friberg was thinking about it for quite some time before shoving all-in for around 40,000 total. Chartier snap-called.

Sam Chartier{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Erik Friberg{A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and the river the {3-Diamonds} giving Chartier the knock-out. Friberg, who finished eight in the 2006 WSOP Main Event, left the room bringing us down to 43 players already.
