Kostritsyn Rivers Straight

On a {K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop we picked up the action between Fierro, who was in the cut-off, and Kostritsyn, who was on the button. Both players checked bringing us to the turn. The turn was the {K-Spades} and Fierro bet out 4,000. The Russian high stakes regular called quickly.

The river was the {A-Hearts} and after counting out some chips Fierro threw in 9,500. Kostritsyn called immediately showing {4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for a straight. Fierro showed his {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} as he mucked his cards. Fierro is still our chip leader but lost some chips to the fearless player to his left.

Nicolas Fierro{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and the river the {7-Diamonds} giving Pasqualini a much needed double up. Moments later Pasqualini was involved in another pot again Fierro with {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} on the board. Pasqualini bet out 1,500 and got called by his opponent. The river was the {8-Spades} and Pasqualini bet 3,500 getting called once again. The Partouche Poker Tour Main Event winner showed {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades} raking in another pot.

Even tough Fierro lost two pots to Paqualini he's still profiting over the last hour getting himself up to 135,000.

Winzeler Loses Set Over Set, Back to Back

Today wasn't the day for Hans Winzeler. During the WSOP in Las Vegas he managed to get a second place in the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha behind Jason Mercier but no such luck in Cannes. We caught the action on the river with {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} showing and Boucher had a 26,400 bet in fron of him. Winzeler was tanking for quite some time so it seemed because when he folded Victor Ramin immediately said, "You had the best hand 100%. I would have snap called!". Winzeler was confident in his fold even though he felt really sick about it. "I turned the nut flush and jacks so I rivered a boat. The only hand he could have was pocket queens," Winzeler said.

The very next hand, as we were paying attention to another table, Winzeler and Boucher went at it again. On a board showing {10-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} Boucher bet out 3,600. Winzeler decided to raise to 8,500 getting shoved on almost instantly by his opponent. Winzeler felt really bad once more but called all-in for his remaining 25,000 chips.

Hans Winzeler{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Phillippe Boucher{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Winzeler sighed, "Nice, again". The river was the {4-Hearts} and Winzeler made his exit. Before he went to collect his money Boucher told him that he indeed had queens in the big pot they played giving Winzeler at least a bit of feel good about his read.

Alexander Feels Greats

"Sorry", said Alexander Kostritsyn when he raked in all the chips to double-up against Ludovic Lacay.

We picked up the action on the flop where the board read {q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. Lacay bet 4,700 from the cut-off and tank-called when his Russian opponent check-raised to 21,500. The turn came {10-Hearts} and Kostritsyn moved all-in for his last 30,900. Call.

Ludovic Lacay: {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for the nut straight and re-draw to the nut flush.
Alexander Kostritsyn: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for middle set.

Kostritsyn needed help to survive and he got it as the river fell {5-Diamonds} to pair the board and fill him up. Lacay was devastated and threw his cards angrily towards the muck. Floor man Kevin was on hand and gave the Frenchman a warning for his conduct, which seemed a tad harsh.

Ramdin Raids Mortensen's Chest

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Victor Ramdin has eliminated former World Champ Carlos Mortensen. We missed the hand but Ramdin was kind enough to fill us in on most of the details.

He raised to 2,100 and called when the Spaniard three-bet to 6,500. The flop came down {k-}{9-}{4-} rainbow and Mortensen bet half his remaining stack and called when Ramdin set him all-in.

Mortensen: {a-}{a-}{j-}{3-}
Ramdin : {k-}{9-}{q-}{q-}

The board ran out blank so Ramdin's two-pair held up. He's up to 112,000 chips now.
