O'Brien Extends Lead

Action folded to Dan O'Brien's button and he made it 8,000 to go. Oleksii Kovalchuk called from the small blind and the big blind mucked his cards.

The two were heads up to see the flop of {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}. Kovalchuk took the lead with a bet of 20,000 and O'Brien flat called. Fourth street brought the {9-Hearts} and Kovalchuk slowed down with a check. O'Brien moved 38,000 into the middle of the table and Kovalchuk called his bet.

Both players checked the {5-Spades} on the river and Kovalchuk showed {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a pair of sevens. Unfortunately for Kovalchuk , O'Brien held {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} for top pair and he was able to absorb the chips in the pot. O'Brien is now sitting on 405,000 in tournament chips.
