Hougaard Starts With a Loss
Jesper Hougaard is one of the few players who has had succes in both the WSOP and WSOPE in the same year. Back in 2008 the Dane won a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event for $610,304 only to win the £1,500 No-Limit Hold'em in London for £144,218 just three months later.
The two-time bracelet winner joined the fun today, but his start wasn't. Hougaard was playing heads up at his table against Oleksii Kovalchuk. He who won the $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud hi/lo split event this summer cashing $228,014.
Hougaard raised it up to 75 after which Kovalchuk three-bet to 225. There was no other player in sight, and Hougaard called. The flop brought out 

, and Hougaard checked. The Ukrainian pro threw out a bet of 350 and Hougaard called.
On the turn the
hit, and Hougaard check-folded when Kovalchuk threw out 1,000. Right after this hand the table broke, and Hougaard moved to the direct left of Andrew Lichtenberger.
