Juggernauts at Table 18

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Phil Ivey's table recently broke and he's been moved to the direct right of Vanessa Selbst over on Table 18. Also at that table is Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi.

Just from those three players combined, there's $37,155,136 in live tournament earnings represented. On top of that, 13 World Series of Poker gold bracelets have been earned. Ivey leads the group of them with eight, Mizrachi has three, and Selbst has two.

Ferrell Races for Tournament Life

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

We're not sure of the preflop action, but we do know that Michael Ferrell ended up all in for 12,000 or so with {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and was up against the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} Nicolas Cardyn. Ferrell leaned in close as the dealer burned and put out the flop... {10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

Ferrell had survived the hard part, but there were still two cards to come. The dealer burned one more time and turned the {5-Hearts}, another safe card for Ferrell. In order to eliminate his opponent, Cardyn needed either an ace or king in the river. For the third and final time the dealer burned and put down the {8-Spades}. "It usually comes on the river," Ferrell said with the slightest hint of a smile.

Masquelier Gives It Up to Stout

Matt Stout

"What to do?" we heard Prosper Masquelier say over at Table 9. We made out way over to discover that Matt Stout had check-raise all in on a {J-Spades}{A-Clubs}{7-Spades} from the cutoff after Masquelier has bet 5,000 from the button.

Masquelier, who got off to a quick start today, thought long and hard before folding {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} face up. Stout simply gave his cards to the dealer and collected the pot.

Merson Closes the Curtain on Tilly

We noticed Jennifer Tilly exiting the tournament floor and made our way over to Table 16, which is where she had been seated. We saw October Niner stacking a pot and he was kind enough to inform us that he'd been the one to do the deed.

According to Merson, Tilly had opened for 1,100 and then called when he three-bet to 2,200. When the flop fell {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Tilly shipped for approximately 8,000 with {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Merson called with {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The turn was a {4-}, giving Tilly the lead, but the {7-} on the river completed Merson's straight and allowed him to knock out the Academy Award winning actress.

O'Dwyer on a Steady Climb

Throughout the day Steve O'Dwyer has managed to build one of the biggest stacks in the room. It seems every time we walk by Table 16, he has more chips than the time before. In a recent hand, action folded to O'Dwyer and he raised to 1,100 from middle position and the player on the button made the call.

O'Dwyer kept the pressure on with a bet of 1,900 on the {5-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, and then fired an additional 4,000 on the {K-Spades} turn after the button had called. The turn bet proved enough and O'Dwyer took down the pot without further resistance.
