Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Jan Schwippert
Jan Schwippert

Jan Schwippert raised to 180,000 from middle position and Timothy Adams three-bet all in from the hijack for 1,410,000. Andrew Leathem thought about it in the small blind before folding.

Schwippert called and the cards were turned over.

Jan Schwippert: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Timothy Adams: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out [ihks7dtd2c] and Schwippert was left with around 200,000 which went in against Nick Petrangelo in the very next hand.

Nick Petrangelo: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Jan Schwippert: {2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Schwipper picked up a flush draw on the {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop. The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and the {q-Diamonds} sealed his elimination, sending him to the rail.

Farrell Busts Sekularac

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Niall Farrell from Day 1 of Event #9
Niall Farrell from Day 1 of Event #9

Niall Farrell just won one of the biggest pots of the tournament. Midway through the preflop action, it looked like Philipp Gruissem started the action with a raise to 135,000 and Ognjen Sekularac called from the small blind before Farrell three-bet to 575,000. Gruissem called in position and Sekularac shoved all in for 2,250,000.

Farrell didn't take long to shove over the top, putting Gruissem at risk should he call. Gruissem folded and Farrell showed two jacks, {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}. He was against the {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} of Sekularac.

The board settled things pretty quickly with Farrell flopping a set and Sekularac was drawing dead on the turn. The final board read {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Farrell won the hand and jumped over 5,000,000.

"I had already booked my flight back home to Scotland when I saw his hand," Farrell said jokingly.

Earlier in the day, Sekularac caught an ace against Farrell's pocket kings to double through him and Farrell seemed prepared for the same to happen again.

Grospellier Eliminated; Players Redrawing Around Three Tables

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Bertrand Grospellier
Bertrand Grospellier

For the second hand in a row Bertrand Grospellier raised all in, this time for 415,000. It folded to Nick Petrangelo in the small blind.

"I'm all in, but I want that Mau5," said Petrangelo, referring to Grospellier's card protector. The big blind folded and the cards were turned over.

Nick Petrangelo: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Bertrand Grospellier: {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}

There was a Jack in the window of a {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop. The turn was the {10-Clubs} and the river the {k-Spades} meaning Grospellier was eliminated. The Frenchman left the tournament area, with Petrangelo left Mau5-less.

Loosli Cracks Aces in Sick Fashion

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Sylvain Loosli was all in for 580,000 when we got to his table, and Bryn Kenney had him at risk with {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}. Loosli had {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} but the flop came {2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} to give him a prayer. The {6-Diamonds} turn gave him a flush and the {q-Hearts} river was a brick.

Mateos Eliminates Yu

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Dario Sammartino opened for 160,000 first to act and got three-bet to 450,000 by Adrian Mateos in the next seat. Dennis Yu called off for 350,000 in the big blind. Sammartino put in the requisite chips after eyeing his neighbor's stack and they checked down a board of {q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

Yu showed {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Sammartino hadn't paired either but his {a-Spades}{9-Spades} was good. Mateos had the best ace with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} though and took it down.

Sylvain Loosli raised to 160,000 in the cutoff and Dominik Nitsche three-bet all in for 450,000. The blinds folded and Loosli snap-called, tabling {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}. Nitsche showed {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} with Loosli still ahead. The turn was the {j-Diamonds} giving Nitsche a gutshot, but the river was the {8-Spades} and the German was eliminated.

Kabrhel Doubles Through Mateos

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

We found Martin Kabrhel tanking against an open from Adrian Mateos to 175,000 on his right. Stefan Schillhabel called a clock and Kabrhel immediately announced 555,000. Mateos thought a bit and dropped in some chips but someone stopped him from exposing his hand as Kabrhel had 150,000 back. Mateos put that amount in blind.

"Blind?" Kabrhel said. "You are crazy guy."

The flop came {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Spades}.

"If I am so unlucky, I am so unlucky," Kabrhel said. "I have only one pair."

He slid in the chips though and turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Mateos had a smaller pair with {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Neither the {5-Diamonds} nor the {4-Clubs} caught him up and Kabrhel doubled.
