Cormier Eliminated in First Hands

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Jeff Cormier
Jeff Cormier

Jeff Cormier is the first player to depart from the field, despite not being one of the short stacks. He played a big pot against Andriy Lyubovetskiy and the action was on the turn, with {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts} on the board.

Cormier check-called Lyubovetskiy's bet to 40,000 and they went to the river in a pot with more than 200,000 inside.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and this time Lyubovetskiy announced pot, after Cormier checked. The Canadian was struggling whether to call or not for his tournament life but then decided to call. Lyubovetskiy opened {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a full house and Cormier showed disappointed his {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a lesser full house.

Ha Takes Sinclair's Stack in Two Hands

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Thai Ha
Thai Ha

Thai Ha is having a great day so far and right now he sits upon a 1.4 million-chip stack, after busting Jack Sinclair.

He needed two hands in order to achieve it, and in the first both players checked a {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop. The {7-Spades} came on the turn and Ha bet 35,000 with Sinclair calling. The {q-Hearts} completed the board on the river and Ha bet 75,000 this time with Sinclair folding his hand after some tanking.

A couple hands later, they were both in the blinds and Ha raised from the small blind to 30,000 and called when Sinclair made it 90,000.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Ha led for 175,000, which were more than enough to cover Sinclair's stack. After some tanking Sinclair called and they went to showdown.

Thai Ha: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Jack Sinclair: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}

The {10-Hearts} on the turn and the {k-Clubs} on the river sent Sinclair to the rail, while built a chipleading stack.

One Million Stack Vanished

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Anton Morgenstern
Anton Morgenstern

Anton Morgenstern lost his last four hands and is now in the rail, even though he started as chip leader and went over one million chips at some point during Day 2.

After doubling Dosikov, he doubled Dash Dudley too, in a preflop war that ended with both players putting most of their chips in the middle preflop.

The flop came {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Dudley shoved around 100,000 and Morgenstern called with just 40,000 more than his opponent.

Dash Dudley: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Anton Morgenstern: {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

The {3-Clubs} on the turn and the {a-Hearts} on the river didn't change anything and Morgenstern was left with three big blinds.

He put them in the middle on the next, where he was under the gun and just one seat on his left, Marc Palatzky three-bet to pot. Everybody else folded and they opened their cards.

Marc Palatzky: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Anton Morgenstern: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Morgenstern eliminated from the event in 19th place.
