Kirchner Doubles Up with Straight, Thanks to His Lucky Apple
Thomas Kirchner made a bold move, shoving all in with his last 105,000 chips from the cutoff. After asking for a chip count, Patrik Demus in the big blind decided to make the call. In a lighthearted moment, Kirchner joked that his all-in was worth even more because he was also tossing in his apple, which had served as his trusty card protector throughout the day.
Thomas Kirchner: K♠10♥
Patrik Demus: J♦10♠
The flop came down Q♦7♠J♣, giving Kirchner a glimmer of hope as he flopped a straight draw.
With every turn of the cards, he was eager for more good news, and his prayers were answered when the A♠ appeared on the turn, providing him with the straight he needed.
As the river brought the J♦, it did not change the outcome of the hand. Kirchner's hand held strong, allowing him to double up and keep his tournament hopes alive, much to his relief.
