Gavril Runs into Aces

Aaron Sternheimer opened the action from early position with a raise to 10,000. Viorel Gavrila, sitting in the hijack, took a moment to ask how many chips Sternheimer had behind before deciding to go all-in. Without hesitation, Sternheimer snap-called.

When the cards were revealed, Gavrila quickly realized he was in trouble, holding K♣Q♥ against Sternheimer’s dominant A♠A♦.

The board ran out 3♠9♥4♠2♠9♣, offering no help to Gavrila. With no chance for a double-up, Gavrila was eliminated from the tournament.
