Miegel Amazed by Bel Khayate's Fold

Level 6 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Jakob Miegel
Jakob Miegel

Jakob Miegel limped from the small blind, and El Mostafa Bel Khayate raised to 21,000 from the big blind. Miegel responded with a jam for around 130,000, and Bel Khayate went into the tank.

After around two minutes, with Miegel smiling at him the whole time, Bel Khayate open-folded AK.

Miegel was astounded, and tabled QQ, asking his opponent, "How do you fold?!"

Bel Khayate indicated it was too early for him to want to flip for his stack.

Double-Up for Fiala After River Trap

Level 5 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

A player opened from early position, and was met by a three-bet to 8,000 from Vito Branciforte in middle position. Action folded to Simon Fiala in the big blind, who reached for chips and produced a four-bet to 22,000.

The opener got out of the way, but Branciforte called.

On the K98 flop, Fiala check-called versus a bet of 16,500 from Branciforte.

The 4 turn was quickly checked to the 10 river, bringing one-card flush possibilities.

Fiala checked, and Branciforte moved all in with the slightly covering stack. Fiala had a quick peek at his cards, and made the call.

Fiala tabled AA for the ace-high flush, and Branciforte was always in trouble with JJ.

A big pot of 86,000 had accumulated by the river, on a board of K97Q5, in a hand between Robert Fluereci and Felix Seelentag, both in middle position.

After a bit of thought, Fluereci jammed with the covering stack, putting Seelentag to the test for his last 82,000.

Seelentag contemplated the position for quite a while, staring at the board, and counting out his stack, every so often slightly shaking his head.

After around 90 seconds, Seelentag tapped the table and sent his cards to the dealer.

Aiguo Xu
Aiguo Xu

Aiguo Xu opened from early position to 1,800 and Adrian Strobel three-bet from middle position to 6,300. When it got back to Xu, he called.

The flop came 743 and after Xu checked, he called a bet of 7,200 from Strobel to see the Q hit the turn. Again Xu checked, and again Strobel fired, this time for 14,500. Xu called.

A 9 filled out the board and after Xu checked for a third time, Strobel shoved 45,000. Xu spent some time pondering, and with around 70,000 behind, he eventually elected to fold.

Neugebauer Doubles With Big Slick

Level 5 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Max Neugebauer
Max Neugebauer

With the A exposed on the deal, there was a raise from early position with Luca Viviani calling in the cutoff. Max Neugebauer squeezed it to 8,000 from the small blind, forcing the initial raiser out. Viviani back-raised to 16,000 before Neugebauer jammed for 40,000. Viviani called, and the cards were on their backs with the 2023 WSOPE Main Event champion at risk.

Max Neugebauer: AK All in
Luca Viviani: JJ

It was a flip, but with one of Neugebauer's outs already dead, Viviani was the favorite with five cards to come.

That all changed after the K29 flop that saw Neugebauer improve to top pair. The rest of the board came 73, and Neugebauer doubled up.

Claudio Di Giacomo
Claudio Di Giacomo

On a full board of 46Q55, there were around 40,000 in the pot when Claudio Di Giacomo bet 11,500 from under the gun. Yannick Jobin was in the hijack and needed to think for some time before he settled on a call.

Di Giacomo then showed 55 for quads, while Jobin flipped the nut flush holding AK before it got mucked.

"Would you call if he shoved?" asked Adrian Cazacu to Di Giacomo.

Di Giacomo looked bewildered and said that he would, but Cazacu was quick to remind him that quads was not the nuts and a straight flush was possible.

On a flop of 733 with 47,000 in the pot, Shaun Deeb in the small blind checked. Seyed Fazeli in the cutoff bet 25,000, Deeb raised all-in, and Fazeli called, finding himself at risk for 55,000.

Fazeli flopped trips and was on his way to double up, but the KK runout completed a full house for Deeb, sending Fazeli to the rail. "That's how you win a bracelet," Ren Lin at the table joked.
