Skipper Stunned as Consecutive Hands Leave Him Out
Two hands in quick succession just ended the run of Daniel Skipper.
First, Vladimir Martynov shoved the hijack for 535,000 and Skipper put in the call from the big blind.
Vladimir Martynov: 6♠6♥
Daniel Skipper: K♣J♣
The flop of 2♠4♣3♣ triggered Skipper to let out an early celebration as he clenched his fist in delight, only to realize that he hadn't flopped a flush. He did still have plenty of outs, but the early claim of the pot angered the poker gods as the runout of 10♥7♠ meant Martynov doubled up.
In the very next hand, Skipper got to the turn from the small blind on a board of 9♦8♥3♥A♣ and bet 130,000, only for Sarah Link to raise to 300,000 from the big blind. Skipper three-bet to 600,000, Link shoved, and Skipper called off the 500,000 he had behind.
Daniel Skipper: A♠3♠
Sarah Link: A♦8♣
Both players had turned two pair, but it was Skipper that needed help as he was way behind. A 10♣ on the river sealed his fate, as Link's stack rocketed up to around 4,000,000.
