River Raise Forces Shaw Off a Big Hand
Level 21
: Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Claudio Di Giacomo opened to 50,000 from middle position. Carl Shaw in the hijack three-bet to 200,000, and Alexandre Bermon called in the cutoff while Di Giacomo stepped aside.
Both players checked the 10♣J♦7♥ flop.
On the 3♦ turn, Shaw took the lead with a bet of 130,000, and Bermon stayed with him to see the river.
The Q♠ completed the board, and Shaw fired again for 340,000. This time Bermon came back with a raise to 975,000. Shaw went deep into the tank, using four time bank cards, before open-mucking set with J♥J♠.
"Ace-King?" he asked, and Bermon turned over A♣K♠ for the straight, scooping a nice pot.
