Football And Chips

Jeff Kimber seems more interested in the Manchester United/Liverpool match playing on his iPod than he does about the poker but he's just picked up a decent pot when the big blind was sitting out.

Kimber raised to 150 and received just one caller, the button.

He then fired 200 on the {K-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} flop and 300 on the {8-Clubs} turn getting called both times before both players checked the {9-Diamonds} river. Kimber showed {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and it was enough to award him the pot. Time to watch the football once again

No Second Chance Here Buddy

One cheeky player has just been thrown out of tournament after it emerged he somehow managed to sneak into the tournament for a second time. A table mate of his, Stuart Rutter, informed us that a floor man came and took his chips and asked him to leave as he'd already played and busted on Friday. Naughty naughty.

Channing Bites the Bullets

Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed Neil Channing's stack hovering around the 1,000 mark on that last post. He was a victim of the bullets, Robert Cooper pressing the trigger with {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and surviving a {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{K-Spades} board (all in on the flop) against Channing's {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}. Cooper, meanwhile, is enjoying an early surge with 5,500 and currently wearing a smile the width of the equator.

Shak to Wake

Dan Shak would've been better off dozing as he donated 600 chips to a neighbour. Men Nguyen limped from early position and the action got around to Shak in the hijack but he failed to act because he was napping and early attempts to wake him failed as he was wearing headphones. A quick shake from the dealer later and Shak woke to make the call. Rob Jarrett-Smith punished the limpers from the cut-off with a raise to 250 that was only called by Shak.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Shak called a 350 bet only to fold to a725 bet on the {a-Diamonds} turn.

I Saw The Nine And It Opened Up My Eyes

We don't know if Fabrice Soulier is a big Ace of Base fan but he's just received a full double up back over his starting stack by winning a crucial flip.

There was an early position raise to 150 and Soulier made the call in the small blind with 1,400 behind. The big blind then moved all-in and the original raiser folded. The Frenchman debated making the call, finally putting all his chips in with {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} against the big blind's {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}.

Indicating to the original raiser he said, "I hope you folded an ace."

The board came {9-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {A-Clubs} and Soulier's trip aces scooped the pot to put him back up to 3,300.

Matusow Moans About Missing Mixed Magic

Mike Matusow has been waxing lyrically about the WSOPE. He seems to be fairly disappointed over the lack of a HORSE event or a mixed 8-game at this year's series. He also stated that he would like to see more of the big online tournament series events to become two day events as the hours seem ridiculous to him.

Stay a Little Longer

Willie Tann was heads-up with Simon Mairs and the board was at the turn stage reading {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Mairs checked from the blinds and Tann said "Okay, let's go home" and tossed in his last 1,000 chips. Mairs mucked quickly so it look like Tann will be hanging around for a while. He's on 1,700 chips.

Building Blochs

While the small stacks are great for whittling down the players quickly, it becomes very tough for anyone who loses even the first pot. Witness Andy Bloch who just pushed all-in over the top of a Steve Jelinek raise for 750 total getting the PLO8 bracelet winner this year off the hand.

Bloch has 850 now, baby steps on the way back up.
