Twindley Tries Another Bluff

Levi Twindley tried getting another opponent off a hand (unless it was a tracing paper thin value bet) but again he was called and lost. He was UTG and up against Tommy Vedes and the BB. The board read {5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts} at the turn and Twindley was the only caller after Vedes bet 1,275. The river came {j-Diamonds} and Twindley led out for 1,875. Call.

Twindley tabled {a-Spades}{5-Spades} for a pair of fives but lost out to Vedes' {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Vedes up to 25,000 but Twindley still going well on 24,000.

Grinder of the Day

You can see the frustration etched on the face of Richard Hawes as he is forced to nurture his short stack of 3,500. It's not all bad news, though, as his discipline has won him the exclusive title of PokerNews Grinder of the Day.

But with blinds just about to go up to 200/400, he'll have less than 10 big blinds and will surely be looking to make a move.

Chainsaw Slices Through The Competition

The Chain-o-sawrus
The Chain-o-sawrus

Like a master-ninja-in-training, Allen Kessler is ducking and diving his way through the field today and just managed to survive to double up to around the 11,000 mark.

A simple case of {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} against {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} and an aceless/kingless {7-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {6-Hearts} board which turned Kessler's 5,550 stack into a much more palpable 11,500.

Choraria Flushed With Chips

Kumal Choraria made a flush over flush against Tony Cousineau to double-up and claim the chip lead with 41,000 chips. Choraria raised from the hijack and was called by the American before both players checked the flop. With the board reading {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Spades}{2-Spades} Choraria saw his 1,200 bet check-raised up to 4,000. His response was to re-raise to 10,000 and then call when Cousineau put him all-in.

Cousineau tabled {8-Spades}{10-Spades} for a flush but lost out to Choraria's nut flush with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Cousineau down to 7,500 as a result.

Already Close To The Money

With just 41 players remaining today with nearly an hour and three-quarters to go in the tournament it's looking like the total number of players coming back could be below 80 in total.

And with just 54 players being paid from tomorrow, it looks as though the bubble will be happening fairly early on Monday.

Kumal Choraria
Kumal Choraria

Kumal Choraria has had one of those days where he's had people bluffing into him when he has the goods, people hitting lower flushes than him and now an opponent had pocket queens when he had aces.

The unfortunate soul was Christopher Chau who min-cashed in the PLO Event. Chau opened from early position before four-bet jamming when Choraria three-bet him. Choraria couldn't get his chips in quick enough with his {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. Chau tabled {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} and the board ran {4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Choraria up to 47,000 now.

Game of skill this, you know!

Chilli Too Hot For The Chainsaw

Maria Demetriou
Maria Demetriou

Maria Demetriou has been feeling the agony and the ecstasy over the last few minutes. First she snap-folded to a 2,825 bet on the river of a {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {2-Spades} but was helpfully also shown {6-Hearts} {6-Spades} for her troubles.

Soon after she pushed all-in for 3,950 from the small blind against Allen Kessler's button raise. Kessler made the call with {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} against Demetriou's {7-Spades} {7-Clubs} but she managed to catch on the {K-Spades} {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}
