Comeback Kid

Richard Hawes came back after dinner break with three big blinds but now he has over 17 of them. His last coup was a triple-up to 10,400 with the mighty {k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} after he pushed from second position. He had two callers who checked all the way through the {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop.

Hawes revealed his hand that bettered his opponent's {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} and {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

That's a Big Stack My Sion

Elior Sion looks about 17 but he plays with little fear. We've been observing him for the last while and he was hoovering up chips without having to show down a hand until a moment ago and that last hand put up to 43,000 chips.

Four players were still involved at the turn with the board reading {9-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The BB led for 1,000 and his three opponents including Sion and Deeb called to see the {3-Spades} river. Checks all around before the BB reveal a busted flush draw but lost out to Sion's {k-}{j-}.

Maria Demetriou
Maria Demetriou

Maria Demetriou has been feeling the agony and the ecstasy over the last few minutes. First she snap-folded to a 2,825 bet on the river of a {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {2-Spades} but was helpfully also shown {6-Hearts} {6-Spades} for her troubles.

Soon after she pushed all-in for 3,950 from the small blind against Allen Kessler's button raise. Kessler made the call with {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} against Demetriou's {7-Spades} {7-Clubs} but she managed to catch on the {K-Spades} {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}

Kumal Choraria
Kumal Choraria

Kumal Choraria has had one of those days where he's had people bluffing into him when he has the goods, people hitting lower flushes than him and now an opponent had pocket queens when he had aces.

The unfortunate soul was Christopher Chau who min-cashed in the PLO Event. Chau opened from early position before four-bet jamming when Choraria three-bet him. Choraria couldn't get his chips in quick enough with his {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. Chau tabled {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} and the board ran {4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Choraria up to 47,000 now.

Game of skill this, you know!

Already Close To The Money

With just 41 players remaining today with nearly an hour and three-quarters to go in the tournament it's looking like the total number of players coming back could be below 80 in total.

And with just 54 players being paid from tomorrow, it looks as though the bubble will be happening fairly early on Monday.

Choraria Flushed With Chips

Kumal Choraria made a flush over flush against Tony Cousineau to double-up and claim the chip lead with 41,000 chips. Choraria raised from the hijack and was called by the American before both players checked the flop. With the board reading {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Spades}{2-Spades} Choraria saw his 1,200 bet check-raised up to 4,000. His response was to re-raise to 10,000 and then call when Cousineau put him all-in.

Cousineau tabled {8-Spades}{10-Spades} for a flush but lost out to Choraria's nut flush with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Cousineau down to 7,500 as a result.
