Drawing Even!

Here comes JP!

From the button, Jeppe Bisgaard opened to 36,000 before Kelly three-bet it to 100,000 straight. Bisgaard quickly surrendered, and Kelly moved to about 595,000.

On the next hand, it was Kelly opening from the button, sliding out a raise to 39,000. Small blind Scott Shelley tried Kelly's move, three-betting to 110,000. It didn't work. Kelly announced an all in, and Shelley was forced to wave the white flag and cut his losses.

Kelly - 710,000
Shelley - 715,000

Paul Pitchford Eliminated in 4th Place (£40,862)

Paul Pitchford - 4th place
Paul Pitchford - 4th place

After posting the ante, Paul Pitchford put his last 11,000 chips into the pot blind from under the gun. Jeppe Bisgaard called on the button, and JP Kelly raised to 55,000 from the small blind. That was enough to fold his opponents and get Kelly heads up with Pitchford with a chance at the knockout.

Showdown
Pitchford: {9-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}
Kelly: {A-Spades} {5-Spades}

Board: {8-Spades} {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {5-Clubs}

Fives and threes are a nice hand, but not when your opponent has the same with the ace kicker. Unable to get over the hump, Pitchford has become the third in a quick string of eliminations. It was a great show by the Brit, coming into the day as the second shortest stack. He waited patiently and picked his spots carefully today, and he'll take home more than £40,000 for a fine final table performance.

Pitchford On Life Support Now

Paul Pitchford raised to 42,000 from the button, and small blind Jeppe Bisgaard moved all in for 194,000 total. The call would represent almost all of Pitchford's remaining chips, and he took a good long soak in the tank before announcing the call to put Bisgaard at risk.

Showdown
Pitchford: {A-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}
Bisgaard: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}

The {Q-Spades} {7-Clubs} {2-Spades} flop pretty much ended any drama, and the {2-Hearts} river left Pitchford drawing stone dead. He was already cutting out his losses as the meaningless {3-Hearts} filled out the board, and he'll be left with just 13,000 lonely chips with which to try and stage a comeback.

Kaveh Payman Eliminated in 5th Place (£30,666)

Kaveh Payman - 5th place
Kaveh Payman - 5th place

Kaveh Payman looked down at {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}, and that was plenty good enough for him to stick all 133,000 of his remaining chips in there. The only problem was that JP Kelly awoke with {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} right next door, and he made the quick call to put Payman in a bad way with five cards to come.

The dealer would provide no help for the at-risk player, either, as he ran out a board of {6-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {J-Spades} {5-Clubs}. That's the end of the road for Payman, though the journey was a fun one to watch. His pay bump takes him up over £30,000 and the money is starting to get serious now.

Medhi Senhaji Eliminated in 6th Place (£23,239)

Mehdi Senhaji - 6th place
Mehdi Senhaji - 6th place

First in from the cutoff seat, Mehdi Senhaji open-shoved for 193,000. He made it through to the big blind, but Scott Shelley squeezed out two sevens and made the covering call to put his man at risk. It was the {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades}, and it was racing against the {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts} of Senhaji.

Shelley's horse ran the fastest as the board ran {6-Spades} {5-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {J-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} to hold his sevens and earn him the knockout. For Senhaji, his shot at becoming the first player from Africa to win a gold bracelet has come up short, but his fine performance has earned him a healthy cash consolation prize.

Look out for Shelley now, he's got nearly half the chips in play! We count him at 870,000, heaps really.

Pay That Man His Money

We've got a lot of action here already in the after-dinner session. This one was a battle of the blinds where Mehdi Senhaji open-shoved from the small blind with {A-Spades} {8-Clubs}. Big blind Kaveh Payman was getting a bit shallow in the stack, and he made the call for 87,000, all in and at risk of elimination. The news wasn't good for him as he sheepishly tabled the very dominated {K-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}.

The {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {10-Spades} flop brought a good sweat as Payman picked up an open-ender for the double up. The turn {4-Diamonds} was a blank, though, but the river {9-Hearts} was just what the doctor ordered. A king-high straight is good enough for Payman, and he's found his come-from-behind double up to stay alive in this thing.

Now it's Senhaji with some work to do.
