On Wednesday, the $3,500 Wynn Millions Main Event continued with Day 3, which saw 157 players from a 1,314-entry field return to action. After five 90-minute levels of play, just 52 players remained with Calvin Anderson and his stack of 3,275,000 leading the way.

Others still in contention for the $654,637 first-place prize are Joseph Sabe (2,495,000), Cliff Ziff (2,485,000), Michael Dyer (2,205,000) and Zachary Donovan (2,070,000), who round out the top five counts.

A $4,171,950 prize pool was up for grabs to the top 134 finishers, which meant 23 players left empty handed including David “Bakes” Baker, Ryan Riess, Jesse Lonis, Chance Kornuth and bubble boy James Calderaro, who busted after running pocket queens into the kings of Vuong Do.

Andrew Moreno

As for 2021 Wynn Millions Main Event Champion Andrew Moreno, he built a stack on Day 2c and was cruising for much of Day 3 until some unfortunate hands didn't go his way and he was left short to move in with king-jack. Paul Snead woke up with ace-jack and when the board ran out ace-high, Snead sent Moreno out in 100th place for $9,808.

Anderson Wins a Flip To Eliminate Palma; Jumps Into Chip Lead

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Calvin Anderson
Calvin Anderson

The action folded to the player in the cutoff who opened for 30,000 and Calvin Anderson made the call on the button. Nick Palma moved all in for roughly 260,000 in the small blind and only Anderson made the call to put Palma at risk.

Nick Palma: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Calvin Anderson: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

It was a classic flip situation and when the flop came {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, it was even more of a sweat for Palma who picked up a straight draw to go along with his live cards. The turn and river however fell the {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and were no help to Palma as he exited in 62nd place.

Meanwhile on the next hand Anderson was involved again as all the chips went in the middle between him and Marty Mathis. Anderson came out on top and now holds the biggest stack in the room.

Farahi Runs Into Aces in Massive Pot

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Joseph Sabe
Joseph Sabe

There was a raise to 30,000 and Joseph Sabe three-bet to 125,000 in the small blind. Alexander Farahi four-bet to 275,000 and the action was back on Sabe. He five-bet shoved all in for just over 1,000,000 chips and Farahi instantly called off his stack of around 960,000.

Alexander Farahi: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Joseph Sabe: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

It was the biggest pot of the tournament thus far and Sabe was in a great position to become one of the chip leaders. The flop of {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} gave Farahi some hope but the {4-Hearts} and {j-Spades} runout was no help as Sabe collected a huge mound of chips.

Rossitto Ships Chip Lead Pot

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Michael Rossitto
Michael Rossitto

Michael Rossitto opened to 26,000 from middle position and Tyler Lunn three-bet to 60,000 next to act. The rest of the table got out of the way and Rossitto came along.

The dealer fanned out the flop of {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Rossitto checked over to Lunn who continued for 50,000. Rossitto elected on a check-raise to 140,000 and Lunn clicked it back to 350,000. The tournament director was called over because when Lunn raised he slid forward two stacks then came back for more in a string bet motion.

The ruling was that Lunn would be forced to raise to 220,000 and without much thought, Rossitto jammed all in for over 800,000. Lunn counted his chips, but in the end made the call for his tournament life and the cards were tabled.

Tyler Lunn: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Michael Rossitto: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Rossitto had a combo draw and Lunn was slightly ahead with his top pair. The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} to give Rossitto a flush but would need to dodge another diamond to take the massive pot. The river fell the {6-Spades} and Rossitto secured the check mark on the hand and sent Lunn to the payout desk.

Moreno Hits The Rail

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Andrew Moreno
Andrew Moreno

Andrew Moreno open-jammed from early position to 104,000 and it folded around to Paul Snead in the small blind who made the call to put Moreno at risk.

Andrew Moreno: {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Paul Snead: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Moreno was in need of help against the ace-jack for Snead, and when the board ran out {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}, Snead made a full house to send Moreno to the exit.

Lehavot Leaves Liebert Short, Busts Shortly After

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert

Amir Lehavot raised it up in early position and was called by Rick Biever in the cutoff and Kathy Liebert in the big blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and the action checked around to the {q-Spades} on the turn.

Liebert led out with a bet of 20,000 and only Lehavot called to see the {7-Clubs} on the river. Liebert fired out another bet of 40,000, leaving just 55,000 behind. Lehavot thought for a minute and then announced all in, prompting a fold from Liebert.

Just moments later, Liebert was seen exiting the tournament area and awarded with a min-cash.

Calderaro Eliminated on the Money Bubble

James Calderaro
James Calderaro

There was a raise to 16,000 and Vuong Do three-bet to 46,000 in the cutoff. James Calderaro four-bet shoved for 140,000 out of the big blind and Do wasted little time before calling.

James Calderaro: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Vuong Do: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

It was a cooler for Calderaro who needed some help in order to survive the bubble. The board ran out {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Do's kings held on to eliminate Calderaro. The remaining 134 players have now all guaranteed themselves $8,386.

Kornuth's Aces Get Cracked

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Jake Schwartz raised to 17,000 in early position and Chance Kornuth pushed in his last 14,000 chips from the hijack. Sara Ralston also called on the button which created a small side pot.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and the action checked through to the {k-Clubs} on the turn and the {k-Diamonds} on the river. Schwartz finally threw in a bet of 22,000 and Ralston let her hand go.

While the players waited for the action at the other tables to finish, Kornuth and Schwartz exchanged some words about their hands but neither player was sure if the other was slow rolling or not. "I have a feeling I'm going to the PLO tournament," Kornuth said.

When the hands were tabled, Kornuth turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} but Schwartz found a lucky runout with {k-Spades}{3-Hearts} to eliminate Kornuth.

Big Stacks Collide

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Alex Foxen
Alex Foxen

Alex Foxen opened to 17,000 from middle position and both Lenard Adams in the small blind and the player in the big blind made the call.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and action checked over to Foxen who continued for 15,000. Adams quickly called and the big blind got out of the way.

On the {5-Hearts} turn Adams checked again to Foxen who sized up to 55,000. Adams elected on a check-raise to 155,000 and Foxen came along. The {4-Spades} hit the river and both players checked to a showdown. Adams rolled over {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} for ace-high and Foxen scooped the large pot with {8-Hearts}{5-Spades} for two pair.

"I want to go home," joked a player at the table about the aggressive action and tough players on table #41.

Kornuth Survives Elimination

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Jake Schwartz opened to 18,000 from under the gun and Chance Kornuth jammed all in for 83,000 in middle position. The action folded back to Schwartz who contemplated before making the call.

Chance Kornuth: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Jake Schwartz: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Schwartz was dominated but the flop of {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} gave him two pair to take the lead. The {8-Diamonds} on the turn provided some chop outs but it was the {a-Diamonds} on the river that gave Kornuth a full double-up.

"Whew!" Kornuth breathed a sigh of relief. "I just told someone on break how lucky I am."
