Las Vegas Gambler Hits 'Astronomical' Slot Machine Jackpot for $400k
It wasn't as big as the slot machine jackpot poker player Allen Kessler hit in 2024, but a gambler in Las Vegas won an insame amount of money on one lucky spin.
Kessler, at Thunder Valley Resort & Casino in Northern California, won $1.2 million on a Buffalo slot machine. That was one of the biggest slot jackpots ever known to have been hit by a regular poker player.
In Las Vegas recently, a tourist at Casino Royale on the Strip, played a penny denomination themed slot machine, a decision that paid off with some life-changing money.
What a Hit
The popular @LasVegasLocally X account shared a photo of the recent jackpot along with some brief public details about the winning spin. A tourist playing "The Mask" themed slot had just $117 left in the penny machine when, on a $2 spin (200 credits), he landed a bonus.
During that bonus, the lucky player hit a massive progressive for a $401,612, or 200,806 times the amount wagered on the spin. The slot is a spinoff of The Mask comedy flick from 1994 starring Jim Carrey.
"The odds of hitting a jackpot like this are astronomical. For context, you're more likely to be bitten by a shark in Las Vegas," @LasVegasLocally wrote. Reports about the jackpot said it took six hours to verify the jackpot, and the casino had to fly an inspector in to "double-check everything."
Casino Royale is a small casino on the Las Vegas Strip that offers some affordable fast-food dining options and hundreds of slot machines. It's a popular spot for tourists who don't prefer gambling in the mega resorts and seek cheap drinks.
