Negreanu's First Bubble of the Summer

Level 18
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Limit Hold'em

Daniel Negreanu was the short stack in the tournament and the blinds were making their way around. The entire tournament seemed to know he'd have to pick a spot, which he did when he limped from early position. David Benyamine then raised from the hijack, the rest of the players folded and action was halted until all other tables finished.

Negreanu and Benyamine joked back and forth during this time, and then Negreanu finally discovered the bad news.

Negreanu: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Benyamine: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}

Negreanu asked for a queen-eight-six flop with two diamonds, and he actually came close to getting what he asked for when the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Negreanu got a little help, but he needed more to stay alive. The {3-Clubs} wasn't what he was looking for, and neither was the {5-Spades}.

Daniel NegreanuFinished 33rd and it paid 32 spots. Stone bubble. KQdd last hand and Benyamine woke up with AA flop Q88. First bubble of the WSOP woohoo!
