On Friday, Aug. 3, the big action was at the $50/$100 pot-limit Omaha tables where “ChaoRen160” emerging as the day’s biggest winner with a $154,000 win. Cates responded with a four-bet to $7,200, van der Sman called, and the flop came down 9107. The former called a bet of $11,200, and then called a bet of $24,400 on the 7 turn. When the Q peeled off on the river, van der Sman moved all in for $19,376 and Cates made the call. The Dutchman revealed KJ108 for a straight, but it was no good as Cates took down the $124,350 pot with QQK10 for a rivered full house.

Despite the big pot, the two finished relatively close to even, with Cates etching out a meek $10,000 win.

In another notable hand, action was four-handed when “5tgb6yhn7” ($62,120.75) opened for $1,200 under the gun only to have van der Sman ($133,730) three-bet to $4,000 from the small blind. After the big blind got out of the way, “5tgb6yhn7” four-bet $13,600, van der Sman called, and the flop fell 654. “5tgb6yhn7's” aces improved to a set on the A turn, and the 3 river allowed them to hold up so he could take down the $124,637 pot.

Van der Sman had a rough go at it but turned things around when he took down the day’s second biggest pot. In that hand, action was four-handed and van der Sman ($65,070) raised to $1,200 from the cutoff. “Gozoboro” ($36,195) three-bet to $2,000 from the small blind, and “5tgb6yhn7” called from the big. “Gozoboro” got out of the way, “5tgb6yhn7” called, and the A turned, which both players checked. The Q river saw “5tgb6yhn7” check-call van der Sman’s all-in bet of $40,670, creating a pot of $138,135, but his QJ107 two pair was no good against the Dutchman’s K6A9 nut flush.

Tollerene Tackles Tuesday $200/$400 PLO

On Tuesday, the $200/$400 PLO games were up and running, resulting in some big action. Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies was up $500,000 at one point in the games, but, as usual, he gave some back. By the time he quit, Sahamies profited a more modest $100,700. That meant the big winner was Ben “Ben86” Tollerene, who halted his recent skid with a healthy $306,800 win.

Here’s a look at the day’s biggest hand, which saw Tollerene river a flush to win a $127,700 pot:

Joeri “L0ve2playU” van der Sman was the big loser after dropping $296,700, and Daniel “w00k3z” Cates was next down the list with a $171,600 loss.

Millar Takes on Cates in $100/$200 NLHE on Wednesday

Last year, Alex “Kanu7” Millar finished the year as the biggest no-limit hold’em winner and is on course to capture the title again in 2012. On Wednesday, Daniel “w00ki3z” Cates took a stab at halting Millar’s momentum by playing six hours of $100/$200 no-limit hold’em, but the Brit took the American for $185,300. Cates finished as the day’s third biggest loser with a $156,300 loss.

In their biggest pot, Millar ($54,033) raised to $400 on the button only to have Cates ($32,865) make it $1,800 to go from the big blind. Millar responded by making it $4,000, Cates called, and the flop fell 584. Cates proceeded to check-call a bet of $4,400, the 3 turned, and Cates checked yet again. Millar took the opportunity to bet $8,800, Cates woke up with an all-in check-raise to $24,465, and Millar called.
