The Sunday Briefing: "Flush098765" Wins PokerStars Sunday Million for $194,000

Very few Team PokerStars Pros played at PokerStars over the weekend as many were in the United States grinding the World Series of Poker. But that didn't keep the thousands of online grinders from entering the events as games stood steady through Sunday's end.

PokerStars ran its usual Sunday schedule with "Flush0908765" being awarded the largest prize of $194,232 in the Sunday Million. In total, 6,385 players bought into the Sunday Million, creating a $1,277,000 prize pool with 990 places paid. Only five Red Spades participated, including Caio Pessagno, Martin Hruby, Richard Toth, and Lex Veldhuis, all of whom busted before the money bubble. Team Online's Stavros "IDOLLS" Kalfas cashed in 224th place.

Flush098765 went into the final table as chip leader with 11,274,338 in chips, slightly ahead of "JohnnyDepp" (11,269,830).

It was a back-and-forth battle between Flush098765 and JohnnyDepp for the lead until players started dropping from the list. Through the first five eliminations, Flush098765 held a dominating chip lead with 31.6 million, while JohnnyDepp was second with 16.1 million, "OnkelAqua" held 10.1 million, and "EDWARDHOPPER" was the short stack with 6.1 million.

Blinds jumped to 250,000/500,000 when Flush098765 eliminated JohnnyDepp in fourth place after rivering a 6♣ on a 9♦7♦5♥8♠ board for ten-high straight with Q♣10♦. JohnnyDepp missed a king-high flush draw to lose all his chips, but left collecting $70,235.

OnkelAqua briefly took the lead while three-handed but a place at the top didn't last long. He first ran pocket fours into Flush098765's pocket fives and later shoved with A♥K♦ against Flush098765's A♣Q♣ but lost when a queen hit the flop. OnkelAqua's runs ended in third place, good for a $102,160 payday.

Flush098765 started heads-up action with nearly a two-to-one chip lead. In the final hand, EDWARDHOPPER open-shoved for 10.2 million with K♥7♠ on the button. Flush098765 woke up with A♣K♦ in the big blind and called. The board ran Q♥J♣2♦A♦5♠ to lock up the win. Flush098765 banked $194,213 and his first Sunday Million title, while EDWARDHOPPER took his second runner-up finish in the event for $143,663.
