Jabbour is no stranger to the poker room at The Star in Sydney. He's a cash-game regular and told us he has put in many hours at these tables. Jabbour found a large portion of his chips on Day 1a in a classic race, with his trumping in a big all-in preflop situation.
Voegele's story was a little more exciting than Jabbour's. He held on a flop and was fortunate to cooler Tommy Vo who held . The interesting story here, however, is that Voegele and Vo play in a home game together back in their home town and are roommates while travelling to ANZPT Sydney.
Some of the others who survived and will be joining Jabbour and Voegele at the felt on Day 2 include Dominic Coombe, Ken Demlakian, Didier Guerin, Ryan Hong, Anthony Legg, and Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang.
There were plenty of others who weren’t as fortunate as the Day 1a survivors with players like Daniel Neilson, Ricky Kroesen, John Caridad, andrecent APPT Auckland champ Minh Nguyen all eliminated throughout the day. Nguyen hit the rail when his ran into Andrew Dales' .
The players who did survive Day 1a will now return to the felt from 12:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, while a new batch players will hit the tables for the second and final Day 1 flight from 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Be sure to return then as PokerNews continue to provide live updates of ANZPT Sydney.
