UK & Ireland PokerNews Round-Up: Wins, Losses, and Value

UK & Ireland PokerNews Round-Up

Can you believe that another week has come and gone? Are we really halfway through March already? Yes and yes are the answers to those questions, and that means it is also time for the latest edition of the UK & Ireland PokerNews Round-Up.

As is usually the case, the first story of the week came in the form of our recap of the various Sunday majors online, and once again we had lots to shout about on that front. The most impressive result from Sunday was Ireland's Daniel "NukeTheFish!" Wilson who collected more than $58,000 thanks to finishing second in the Sunday 500 on PokerStars.

Another player doing well for himself in a PokerStars online event was Yucel Eminoglu. Although the man — who is affectionately known as "Mad Turk" — is usually found in the live arena, this time he entered the PokerStars Super Tuesday on the virtual felt. It turned out to be a great decision because Eminoglu, as he was part of a three-way deal that netted him more than $71,000.

There are plenty of chances to win big at PokerStars in the coming weeks, even if you are more akin to playing in small- and micro-stakes events. This is because the 10th edition of the MicroMillions promises to pay out at least $5 million across its 100 events, this despite the buy-ins ranging from a mere $0.11 and increasing to a still-affordable $22.

Away from PokerStars, mid- to high-stakes tournament grinders were happy to learn that 888poker is boosting the guarantees of several of its more popular tournaments, but investors in 888poker’s rival, bwin.party, weren’t exactly thrilled to learn of a 29-percent decline in poker and a loss of almost €100 million over the past 12 months.

Other popular stories on the UK & Ireland PokerNews site this week include a look into the best mobile poker apps available today, Ireland being set to sign a new gambling tax into law, a trio of British players going deep in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event the 2015 GUKPT Manchester Main Event kicking off and Dusk Till Dawn giving away $32,000 worth of tournament buy-ins!
