Spain's David Perez Sanchez Wins Redbet Live Rozvadov Main Event For €54,359

David Perez Sanchez

After five days of play, it was Spain's David Perez Sanchez that closed the 2015 Redbet Live Rozvadov €299 Main Event on top of the mountain to take home the €54,359 top prize.

To take down the title and win what is considered to be one of Europe's hottest low-stakes live poker events, Sanchez had to survive a field of 1,148 players, a record-breaking number that made the one in Rozvadov the biggest Redbet Live tournament ever held. Also, thanks to the massive number of entries, the event managed to shatter the €200,000 guarantee offered by Redbet Poker and skyrocket the total prize pool to a staggering €300,000.

Sanchez's victory did not come as a surprise to the people who have followed the event at King's Casino in Rozvadov, as he dominated the tournament. Not only did Sanchez managed to carry his Day 1a chip lead through the whole tournament, but his unstoppable march to the title pushed some of the players to offer him the possibility of an unusual deal that could have led to an early finish.

As the final table got down to six players and Sanchez's stack accounted for 34 million of the 57 million chips still in play, his opponents offered him to take home the title and the full first prize, while they would split the remaining prize pool among themselves and get €19,561 each.

Although Sanchez seemed to favor the deal, it was Poland's Lukasz Paszkiewicz who decided to oppose, as he did not find it legitimate to name a winner when the action was still six-handed. Ironically enough, however, Paszkiewicz's decision to reject the deal backfired soon after his refusal, as the Pole left the table in fifth position, and with a €13,764 cash prize in his pockets.

"I run back to Rozvadov from Monte Carlo because I wanted to support the great action here," said the owner of King's Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik. "It's just unbelievable to see so many players participate in this event organized by Redbet. I find that Redbet has done an incredible effort to make this possible and to bring all these people here to Rozvadov."
