The Super XL Series Returns to 888poker With $3 Million in Guaranteed Prizes
888poker, the world's second largest real-money online poker room, just announced the schedule for the fifth edition of the Super XL Series.
The latest installment will take place from May 14-22 featuring 40 action-packed events with a combined $3 million in guaranteed prize pools. This is not only two more events than the 38 events from the previous Super XL Series in January, but also $1 million more than the $2 million guaranteed a few months ago.
In theme with the site's name, the Super XL Series will kick off with the $88 buy-in $88,888 Crazy 8 Super XL Kickoff, featuring the exact same structure as the 2016 World Series of Poker Event #54: $888 Crazy Eights 8-Handed No-Limit Hold'em. To add to the excitement, this event will also award to the winner a seat to that same WSOP tournament.
The highlight of the online poker festival is the $1,050 Super XL Main Event on May 22 with a ginormous $1 million guarantee. This tournament also doubles as Event #36 on the schedule with players having plenty of time to build a stack with 20,000 starting chips and long 20-minute blind levels.
Similar to the past, most of the events on the schedule will feature a Main, Mini, and Turbo version of each tournament in a wide variety of formats including rebuy, multi-chance, knockout, Snap, full-ring, eight-max, and six-max. Most of the tournaments will take place in the most popular poker variant of no-limit hold'em, with a few pot-limit Omaha tournaments sprinkled into the schedule.
Some other huge events on the schedule are the $160 buy-in Event #5: $250,000 Opening Event Multi Chance and the $600 buy-in Event #7: $200,000 Whale, both on May 15. There is also the $2,100 buy-in Event #15: $400,000 High Roller on May 17.
888 pro Dominik Nitsche shared his excitement with 888poker eMagazine, stating that, "I will be playing on 888 a lot practicing and trying out a few new, different things I have been working on. I just heard there will be another XL series right before Vegas so that's amazing news as it will give me a chance to get in some big tournaments before playing the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl."
Players will have plenty of chances to enter these and all of the other events on the schedule for pennies on the dollar with a plethora of online satellites scheduled to take place on 888poker.
