Sunday Briefing: Pora Dumitru Adrian Triumphs in the Sunday Million

While majority of the poker community’s attention was fixated on the goings on in the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas, thousands of grinders were busy attempting to avoid the news emanating from Nevada while they concentrated on helping themselves to huge scores in the various Sunday Majors of online poker.

Online poker’s biggest weekly tournament is the Sunday Million at PokerStars, an event that lived up to its billing again this week as 5,899 players took to the virtual felt and created a $1,179,800 prize pool.

The Sunday Million ended in a heads-up chop this week, Germany’s “callmuckty” collected $152,712.11 and the eventual champion, Romania’s Pora Dumitru “pora adrian” Adrian banking $165,836.59.

Another big score, $51,738.50 to be exact, was enjoyed by Canada’s “jnk1313” who took down the Sunday Grand, while Lebanon’s “semaantarek” added $28,719.25 to their PokerStars bankroll by triumphing in the Super-Sized Sunday.

Other notable cashes included:

  • “bohe5488” who won the Sunday Kickoff for $19,873.09
  • “martin12389” who won the Sunday Warm-Up for $48,263.51
  • “dartazzzz” who won the Big $109 for $22,807.77
  • Andrei “ragAAAila19” Boghean who won the Big $215 for $23,929.70
  • “marcasa” who won the Sunday Cooldown for $20,497.14
  • Nurlan “Nur1ck” Boobekov who won the Sunday Supersonic for $31,897.20
  • “selinantis” who won the Sunday Wrap-Up for $8,618.40

Over at partypoker, “royaltreys” was among the big winners when they took down the $150,000 guaranteed Main Event for $24,150.15, an impressive total only better by the $30,750 won by Robert-Jan “dasman13” Hoogendoorn who became the $150,000 guaranteed High Roller’s champion, and by “probirs” who collected $37,925 by winning the $2,600 Super High Roller.

Across to 888poker now where “breeth” emerged victorious in the $80,000 Baby Whale for $15,069.44 after a heads-up chop with “hatorrihanz” who banked $14,602.21.

The UK’s Patrick “d1sclosure” Leonard won the $100,000 Mega Deep for $21,357 with Austria’s “HoobertM” walking away with $15,330.36 after securing the $80,000 Sunday Challenge title.
