The first five-figure score of the past seven days went to “Vocaaas” of the Czech Republic after they won the $40,000 Quarterback, outlasting 200 opponents in the $215 buy-in tournament.

Also on Thursday, there was an Austrian one-two in the $20,000 Thursday Challenge, a superb event costing a mere $12 to enter, yet one that saw the final six finishers bank more than $1,000 each, proving you don’t have to risk a lot to win big at 888poker.

Towards the weekend, “Darkknight79” won $4,002 by taking down the $20,000 Friday Challenge, with “5d2031826” triumphing in the $20,000 Octopus on Saturday for $5,635, but it was Sunday where some mega money was won, as is usually the case in the world of online poker tournaments.

Finland’s “TomYamKai” entered the $100,000 Mega Deep for $215, and 13-hours later was the only player with chips in front of them. Their prize? A cool $26,737.50, and the title of $100,000 Mega Deep champion.

Another big Sunday tournament at 888poker is the $80,000 Baby Whale, which commands a $320 buy-in unless you manage to win your way to it via the plentiful satellites running throughout the week. This week’s winner banked more than $21,000 for their victory as the prize pool easily surpassed the guarantee.
