Sunday Briefing: Justin Bonomo Wins the Super-Sized Sunday

  • Justin Bonomo was among the big winners this weekend, netting over $72,000 in the Super-Sized Sunday.

Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo was among the big winners at PokerStars on Sunday, walking away with the title of Super-Sized Sunday champion.

Bonomo, who also played in the $102,000 WCOOP Super High Roller, topped a star-studded field of 952 entrants in the $700 buy-in progressive knockout tournament, banking the $51,933.51 first place prize and a cool $20,511.24 in bounty payments.

Winning a similar amount to Bonomo was another one of poker’s elite players, Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer. The Ireland-based pro was the runner-up in the $109 Sunday Cooldown WCOOP edition for a $35,359.96 score, and O’Dwyer also finished in sixth place in the Sunday Grand tournament for an additional $17,825.54.

  • Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford – won The Weekender for $16,621.18
  • “Kaila” – won the Big $109 for $27,833.49
  • Vladimir “shabalinvlad” Shabalin – won the Hot $162 for $22,143.20
  • “dodi papa” – won the $109 Bounty Builder for $17,357.90
  • “Noogaii” – won the $109 Bubble Rush for $14,350.95
  • “chotra” – won the Hot $109 for $22,973.56
  • Lucas “YRWTHMELTHR” Greenwood – won the Sunday Grand for $80,502.91
  • Dan “djk123” Kelly – won the Sunday Grand PLO for $51,712.05
  • “pokerjoe485” – won the Big $215 for $32,699.27
  • “pokerturo” – won the Sunday Cooldown WCOOP Edition for $54,096.92
  • David “MissOracle” Yan – won the Sunday Supersonic for $35,452.01
  • Fabrizio “SixthSenSe19” Gonzalez – won the Hot $215 for $25,620.98
  • “heberto88” – won the Sunday Wrap-Up for $10,719.38

Over at Partypoker, the $10 million guaranteed Powerfest series progressed to its higher buy-in events, creating some massive prize pools as a result.

“nomoneynoglory” took down the $50,000 Gtd Freezeout, turning $109 into $14,909.75 with “mkmk7” triumphing in the $100,000 Gtd Freezeout for $21,686.58, and “OlliKaaahn” winning the $100,000 Gtd rebuy for $21,838.22.

Thanks to Powerfest, this week’s $150,000 Main Event became a $200,000 guaranteed tournament, and its champion was “x crash1954” who is now $35,509.12 richer than he was at the start of Sunday.

As you would expect, it was the high roller events that created the biggest prizes at partypoker this Sunday. “Stikeeez” turned their $530 into $51,323.99 by winning the $200,000 Gtd High Roller, while “fezzz123” took home $60,060 for their win in the $300,000 Gtd High Roller.

The highest buy-in event of the weekend at partypoker was the $2,600 Super High Roller, which was won by Andras “probirs” Nemeth who collected $51,151.14 for their victory.

888poker’s tournaments also created some juicy prizes including the $27,303 won by “Tacuara87” in the $100,000 Baby Whale. The United Kingdom’s Jareth “jareth3542” East was also in the winner’s circle, taking down the $150,000 Mega Deep for $30,842.40.

In the $50,000 Turbo Mega Deep, it was Ukraine’s “fanjkeee1” won emerged victorious, turning $215 into $11,648.70, and it was the Czech Republic’s “Yournemeis” who won the lion’s share of the $60,000 Sunday Crocodile’s prize pool, namely $14,434.69.

Lastly for the 888poker results and for this week’s edition of the Sunday Briefing, a shout out to “whaler36” who became the $80,000 Sunday Challenge champion, an accolade that also came with a $15,892.15 cash prize.
